Sophie's Choice

My life started on a ranch in Colorado. I really liked living in the country and tried to be a good dog to make my people love me.
One day I saw this strange little animal walking around. It smelled kind of funny so I decided I would catch it and show it to my people. I was so excited because I was sure that the humans would be proud of me and give me lots of love which is the thing I like the most!
It turned out that this animal is called a chicken and that my humans were not pleased at all. They say that I killed it but I was just trying to play, I didn't mean to hurt it. My humans punished me and I felt really sad and scared and didn't really understand why they were so mean to me.
That night they came and got me to go for a ride in the car and I was so HAPPY! We drove a ways and then they stopped the car and took me out. Oh boy I thought, I get to go for walk! We walked up to a dark building. My humans pinned something to my collar and opened the door and pushed me in. It was dark in there and it smelled like horses. Then they shut the door behind me. I waited for a long time but they didn't open the door; then I heard the car driving away. I ran all over the building trying to find a way out but I was trapped.
I sat in the dark and cried that whole long night thinking what a bad dog I must be that my humans didn't want me!

The next morning, the door opened and this wonderful lady walked in. Her name was Diane and this was her barn. She read the note on my collar and petted me and gave me food and water. I felt sad still but she was very kind. I was on Dreampower's ranch. Diane promised she would find me some humans that would love me forever no matter what. It seemed too good to be real!
Diane took me to something called an "adoption fair" at a place called Petsmart. There were lots of other dogs all hoping to find families too. I sat and waited and people petted me but no one really stopped. Then this young couple walked up and started playing with me. They took me for a walk around the store and came back and talked with Diane. They started filling out paper work and they put a leash on me and we walked away. They seemed really nice! They tried fancy collars on me and had a name tag made that said "Sophie". Then they took me to their home. It wasn't in the country but it had a yard to play in and I could be in the house with them when ever I wanted! This is how my life with Rob and Lori started and now I really have a family who loves me no matter what!
