OVERALL OPINION Not an SJ shippy episode but a little projecting fodder can be detected. Best SJ scene would be when Sam and Jack return to Cartago after their brief trip back to Earth, and their wonderful teamwork as they fight the serpent guard's. Those two can really gel together when it's needed. :)

NOTABLE SCENES

1) Arriving At Cartago: As the Brysa's come out of hiding, weapons ready to attack, SG1 immediately take defensive positions. At this point, Sam immediately calls out "Colonel?" to which he replies instinctively "hold your fire." Gotta love their same-track minds. :) As the Colonel and Hanno decide to end the stand-off, and Hanno begins circling SG1, Jack immediately moves down from the platform he's on to stand beside Sam. :)

2) Teal'c's Voice: As Jack, Daniel and Sam emerge from behind Teal'c's cage, Sam is about half a breath behind Jack. As Jack states that he will be Teal'c's 'voice' or 'defense', Sam pipes up with a dubious "ah... you?"; Jack replies affirmatively. As the Byrsa's leave, Daniel points out that Jack's never been known as a "diplomat"--an "antagonist", yes, but not a diplomat. :) Jack maintains that as CO, it comes with the territory and Sam points out that Daniel would be a much better choice, adding a belated "Sir" to the end when Jack sends her a look that quickly states something along the lines of 'lack of faith in me *Captain*?'. Nevertheless, Jack then agrees that they'll all defend Teal'c.

3) Cor'ai 101: As the Cor'ai begins, Sam and Jack are positioned together on one side of the "prisoner" stand, Daniel on the other. As Hanno asks for Teal'c's forgiveness for threatening his life earlier on, Jack whispers to Sam that it's going better than he thought. As the Cor'ai progresses, Sam spends much of her time silent and looking up at Jack.

4) Going Back: When Jack loses patience with the trial, he states that he and Sam are returning to Earth to gather reinforcements. Sam acquiesces without protest, showing that despite what her personal belief may be--perhaps she agrees with Teal'c's belief that he deserves this?-- her loyalty is still to Jack's military command.

5) In The SGC: Jack's trying to convince General Hammond that he needs people (soldiers) to go back and help free Teal'c, Sam helping within the lines of being respectful to General Hammond's decree but obviously loyal to Jack and of the same belief as him when it comes down to the bottom line. Later, as they wait for General Hammond to return from a call with the President, Sam paces the room close to a 'sitting' Jack, automatically standing at his side when General Hammond returns.

6) Returning To Cartago: As Sam and Jack return to Cartago they comment that things "look a little different". It soon becomes obvious that Apophis' cronies have returned to Cartago to procure their latest batch of hosts. As they catch sight of the serpents guards, Sam and Jack immediately revert to their military training, taking cover and communicating silently with hand-signals. As they enter Teal'c's holding cell and discover that he's gone, Jack wonders that the Byrsa's must have taken them with him into hiding. Or, Sam suggests, Daniel might have freed Teal'c. Jack rather nicely replies "keep those positive thoughts coming Captain". They then return to ground level, once again in military-mode. As they watch serpents guards rounding up people, Jack's backpack makes a noise against the pillar he's hiding behind. The serpent guard turns and catches sight of Sam's shadow, causing her to dash to another hiding place as the guard fires towards her position. As the guard pursues, Jack trips him, immobilizing him. As he does so, Sam reappears, immediately passing the guard's staff weapon to Jack as she reclaims her own weapon.

7) The End: As the episode finishes, Teal'c having been "saved" by his own actions, Sam and Jack are side by side with Daniel and Teal'c, all four finally allowed to return home together.
