SG-1 walks through a heavily forested area. Daniel is fascinated although there is no indication of civilization. Despite Daniel's protests Jack decides to "flag it for an aerial survey" and leave. As they begin to move towards the Gate a man appears through the thick forest calling "help me ... if they find me ... Taldor" The stranger tells them that they are surrounded. As the team begin to escort the stranger towards the gate Jack quips "keep an eye out for Taldor, I guess" As they move on a light appears above them and suddenly they are in a darkened room. A voice informs them that they are prisoners and that for the crime of aiding a murder they will share in his crime. The sentence is life in prison in Hadanta.

Hadanta

SG-1 are thrown through the gate into a badly lit cave. Other prisoners appear and begin to advance on them slowly while whistling. Tealc's attention is diverted as he spots a pair of smoking feet lying before the gate. This prisoner died when the gate opened and the vortex consumed him.

A man appears beside Sam. She speaks to him but he runs. She follows trying to reassure him but it's a trap. The other male prisoners, led by Vishno, surround her and she is unable to escape. A woman calls out "Vishno" and he immediately releases Sam. She addresses the crowd "no man will take this woman" Sam protests that she can look after herself but since it is obvious that for once she cannot she looks a bit feeble. The strange woman introduces herself as Lenea. She explains that she means Sam no disrespect but she understands what being a woman in Hadanta means. Sam suddenly seeming to recognize the vulnerability of her position accepts Lenea's help without further protest. Jack looks concerned and checks that Sam is ok. As Lenea begins to walk away SG-1 begin to discus ways of powering the Gate. Jack turns to Tealc " Tealc, look scary and take point'. At this they begin to explore their involuntary home.

As they walk through the prison a man jumps out before them and offers them a corpse. Daniel, looking shocked, accuses him of murder but the stranger claims it was suicide. Taking a pendant of the man's body he offers it to Sam "the protected one'. She refuses and the stranger turns his attention to Tealc encouraging him to challenge Vishno. When Tealc refuses the man disappears quickly.

A few minutes later Jack decides that he and Sam will speak to Lenea while Tealc and Daniel will continue to look around. As Sam and Jack head for Lenea they are almost knocked over by a man fleeing a hoard of pursuers. Sam is concerned as to the man's fate but Jack coldly says "not our problem'.

As SG-3 return through the Gate General Hammond is hopeful that they bring news of the overdue SG-1. Unfortunately it is not what he wants to hear.

Hadanta

Jack explains to Lenea that they are not from the Island States ruled by the Taldor but from earth. "Do you intent to challenge me" " She asks. She explains that she believes that the circle of stone that brought them here actually put them on another world. One which once teemed with life but was now almost dead. The prison lays in ruins of a long gone civilization thousands of years old. Lenea then explains that the only hope is escape in the wave as the Gate opens. Jack explains that the "escapees" are dead. They are killed instantly by the unstable vortex as the wormhole opens. But perhaps there is a better hope of escape and all they need is a way to power the Gate. Lenea indicates she can help.

Cheyenne Mountain

SG-3 brings back SG-1's weapons and transmitters but no explanation except the fact that SG-1 has been sent to prison for their "crimes'.

Hadanta

Lenea proves she has the means to power the Stargate. The organic roots fascinate Sam. They have the ability to produce energy. Jack is clearly only interested in its potential for helping them escape. A deal is struck. She supplies the power and leaves with SG-1.

As Sam and Jack approach Tealc is holding a man up by the scruff of his neck. "Tealc making friends are you'" Queries Jack. Daniel is concerned that Lenea has power because the other prisoners fear her rather than respect her. Jack clearly considers him naive and says he assumes Daniel has never been in prison. Daniel looks shocked as he realises the implication, Jack has!

Cheyenne Mountain

General Hammond disagrees with SG-9's suggestion that they may have to accept the Taldor's sentence. Clearly annoyed he decides to accompany SG-9 back to the planet to negotiate for SG-1's freedom himself.

Hadanta

Lenea tells Sam she was imprisoned for trying to help prevent a plague. Unfortunately her medicine accelerated the spread of the disease rather than stopping it. Lenea warns Sam that Vishno is going to move against SG-1.

Daniel tries to stop an "escapee" killing himself when the gate opens. He fails but succeeds in provoking Vishno into openly attaching him. It quickly escalates into a brawl. While the men fight Sam pleads for Lenea's help to stop the fighting. Which she eventually does using a strange hand device which she quickly hides from SG-1 who are baffled as to how Daniel managed to overpower Vishno.

Taldor

General Hammond desperately tries to get the Taldor to accept that he is responsible for the actions of SG-1. He fails! They are on their own!

Hadanta

Lenea uses her roots to treat the sick. She tends to the injured Daniel. Then she moves on to an injured blind man called Simeon. She puts medicine into his eyes and suddenly he can see. He looks at a Lenea with horror and runs. Daniel wakes and asks what has happened. Jack quips "you actually won a fight Danny Boy". Suddenly Daniel shouts "P28509". Daniel recalls that S G - 3 are going there. They can use this destination to rendezvous with S G - 3 and use their G D O device to get home.

When the gate opens and the food is slopped through it, Lenea tells Daniel to distribute the food. The prisoners believe he killed Vishno and it is now his place. Daniel enjoys letting S G - 1 eat first.

Tealc and Sam begin setting up the power vines which will power the Stargate. As the Gate comes to life, Daniel provides the Gate address. Once the Gate has activated SG-1 and Lenea head through it. Simeon follows them.

SG - 1 make it home via their rendezvous with SG - 3 on P X 28509. Sam shows Lenea the computer and how it can be used to represent the atoms and molecules that make up the universe.

In the briefing room SG - 3 bringing Simeon. He tells General Hammond at Lenea is nicknamed "destroyer of worlds'. He claims she caused the plague that wiped out an entire world.

Sam shows Lenea the information contained in the computer on the Stargate system. She explains that the Stargate system spans thousands of worlds and that many Stargate addresses are stored on the S G C computer system. Suddenly, Lenea uses her hand device to incapacitate Sam who falls unconscious on to the floor.

In the briefing room Simeon tells General Hammond that Lenea created the sickness and spread it across his world.

General Hammond and Jack try and stop her but Lenea has already activated the Stargate. The self-destructive sequence on the base has also begun and the system does not respond to General Hammond's attempts to abort. As the blast doors open, Lenea stands before the Gate, she stops and takes one last look behind her before stepping through. The self-destructive sequence hits zero but nothing happens. Jack immediately wants to follow her through the Stargate. But before he can act the entire computer system crashes and a message appears on the main screen "all debts have now been paid". They have let out the "destroyer of worlds". Now there is no way of knowing where she went. They are unable to follow her.
