OVERALL OPINION
This is not an overly shippy episode. The episode is an excellent example of the team working together for the sake of one of their own. The shippiness lies in the subtle looks and actions between Sam and Jack, the undercurrent of concern running between them and even a touch of humour in a tense situation. When watching this episode, pay close attention to any scene with Sam and Jack in it. Watch their body language and where their eyes are looking. Most of the time, their eyes are on each other, clearly showing what they are feeling and the concern for one another.
NOTABLE SCENES
1) Galatic Waste Of Time: In the very first scene, Jack is taken hold of by the alien device. After it lets him go and he falls unconscious, Sam is the first person by his side. She takes his pulse but then slides her hand from his neck to rest against his cheek.
2) With The Doc: As Jack is being examined by Dr. Fraiser after being knocked unconscious, Sam is the only team member with him during the examination. Her concern for him is very clear on her face and in her eyes.
3) Cruvus: During the debriefing with General Hammond, Jack starts acting odd, the first sign that everything is not alright with him. Sam's concern for him is very evident in her glances at him and when she asks him if he is okay. Her eyes are always on him during this scene.
4) I Need This: The team goes to look for Jack after Teal'c reports that he cannot find him. Sam is the one who finds him in the weapons room, dismantling Teal'c's staff weapon. This scene is one of several increasing examples of how in tune Sam and Jack are. Part of being in tune with each other involves Sam and Jack being the first to always find the other if they have been separated for some reason. In this case, Sam is the first to find Jack, not Daniel, who is his closest friend.
5) Something More Important: After Daniel tells Jack about Sam and Teal'c stranded on a planet, with no way of getting home, he plays a video of Sam's report on what is happening to her. As Jack watches it, his expression changes to show concern and worry for Sam. As the alien knowledge in his mind provides him with a solution to help Sam, he accepts it eagerly instead of trying to fight it like usual.
6) The Rescue: As the solution to helping Sam goes through the stargate, Jack's eyes never leave the gate even to respond to Hammond when Hammond looks at him, telling Jack he hopes his plan will work. His eyes are fixed totally on the stargate.
7) Saving Sam: Sam and the rest of SG1 comes back home. Sam asks Hammond who came up with the plans and he steps aside, to reveal Jack. At her questioning "Colonel?" Jack replies with a shrug and a sort of smile showing that he isn't sure exactly what he has done. Teal'c approaches him and apologises for not being able to find a way to cure him. When Jack looks at Sam, her head lowers and her eyes are downcast in sadness and sorrow that she wasn't able to find a way to help him. This entire scene is an excellent example of the undercurrents that are always running between them. With just a look or one word, they can communicate what they are feeling and thinking to one another.
