OVERALL OPINION
One False Step is certainly not one of the shippiest eps we’ve seen, but there *are* some very nice interactions between Sam and Jack. And I think those little moments let us see how the two of them really interact with one another.
NOTABLE SCENES
1) In the first scene of the episode, Sam and her team launch a whole new UAV and Jack is there to see how it progresses. Just like every time he sees one of those planes launch, he says that he loves these things, this time adding "that never gets old" which gets a smile from Sam as she sits at her computer. When the UAV crashes, Sam looks almost embarrassed to tell him that they do need the UAV to see why it crashed because she knows he doesn’t particularly wants to walk for hours. Not shippy at all, but still a very cute scene with a nice interaction between the two.
2) While making their way to the "village", they stop by the crash site and Sam takes some samples of the plant.
"Captain why don’t you start…" Before Jack can say anything else, Sam interrupts him.
"Sir plant life on Earth accounts for more than 80% of our medicinal resources, we should really check it out."
He looks at her and says "Check it out!"
She smiles, looking proud to be right.
3) When Sam hurts her hand with the knife, Jack, sounding worried, asks how’s her hand, and Sam says that it will be fine. Not shippy at all either, but I thought the worry he felt was very cute.
4) While waiting for Daniel outside the little dwelling, Sam and Jack sit in front of each other and Jack looks at her and Sam looks up, then down, looking almost embarrassed, and then she looks back up directly into his eyes. Still looking at her, Jack says he wonders what’s going on in the hut. The look on Sam’s face makes you wonder what she was thinking about.
5) When they decide to bring an alien back home, Jack sends Sam with them, asking her to debrief Hammond and get her hand looked at. He’s worried again.
6) At the end, Jack patiently waits for Sam to say her goodbyes and then she comes towards him. He hands her her gun and gear and then follows her away from the village.
7) In the very last scene, Jack seems very curious to know about the "hunch" Sam said she had and he asks her twice what it was about. When she admits she talks to her plants, he looks at her with a mixture of surprise and amusement.
