OVERALL OPINION
This episode was quite shippy, especially so with that whole scene where Sam finds Jack and then Jack fights off Hathor, culminating in that wonderfully shippy hug. Still, despite the great amount of shippy scenes and moments, this is still not the highest shippy ep on my list.
NOTABLE SCENES
1) Chosen: As Hathor moves away with the Goa'uld from Sam and toward Jack, Sam carefully watches him as he squirms away. She's not any more happy at the choice than Jack is. After Jack gets zatted when he tries to harm the Goa'uld, Sam is the one who goes over and makes sure he's okay.
2) Blending: As the blending time nears, Sam stands back beside Daniel. Although Sam, like Daniel, has her arms crossed in front, it seems more like she's hugging herself, like this is affecting her more than Daniel. Sam's expression makes you think she's feeling Jack's pain and disgust as the blending begins. Finally she closes her eyes when the Goa'uld does go in, unable to watch what is happening.
3) Lost Cause: When Col. Makepeace tells Sam and Daniel that they have to leave without Jack whom he sees as a possible lost cause, Sam tries to argue that if they get Jack back to Earth, there is the probability that he can be saved. She's not about to give up on him so easily.
4) Saving Jack: When they can't get past the barrier to the Stargate, Sam hypothesizes that there must be a generator back in Hathor's complex. She volunteers herself to return alone and disable the generator. Once she is within it though, we see she actually has an ulterior motive in searching for Jack as well. She finds him, with some help from the Tok'ra agent, and gently checks him out, then reassures him as he wakens that he's fine. She is then attacked by Hathor who uses her ribbon device on Sam. Jack somehow finds the strength to pull himself out of the cryo tube, barely a minute after he has been awakened, and grabs Hathor, stopping her from further harming Sam, then kills the Goa'uld. Jack goes over to Sam, who is lying on the ground, and pulls her up, checking that she's okay. They pull each other in to a long, tight hug, explaining all that is going on. Even after they move apart they are still holding on to each other, as if afraid to let go.
5) The Generator: Sam and Jack go in search of the generator together, finding it easily. It's not a particularly shippy moment, but it does show how well they work as a team.
6) Silent Communication: Jack is standing in front of the barrier that surrounds the Stargate and the chevrons begin to light up. At one point Jack quietly says, facing away from Sam, "Now", meaning for her to blow the generator now. Right at that moment she does exactly that. A little silent communication happening there?
7) All's Well That End's Well: After the barrier is down and the firefight has begun, Sam comes running out of her hiding place to warn Jack of the Jaffa in the tower that is about to fire on him. Once the firefight is over, she immediately goes over to Jack to check on him. Then, as they walk towards the others, you can see her arm begin to go up, as if to place it on Jack's back, but she stops herself and puts it back down. They stand beside each other as they wait with Daniel and Bra'tac for Teal'c and Hammond to come over, and Jack glances at Sam, both of them sharing a look.
