OVERALL OPINION A personal favourite of mine if only for Aeris-Boc--he's such a great character! He had me laughing the whole time--finally, a guy with a sense of humour almost identical to our ever-sarcastic Colonel. :) Regardless, this episode has some fantastic SJ moments that don't take much to project since it's the ep directly after "Point Of View". Whereas TPTB could have completely eliminated any chance of 'shippiness' in this episode to make up for POV, they've allowed the characters to show us the hints of 'shippiness' that we've come to love, expect and worship! :)

NOTABLE SCENES

1) In The Beginning: Not much in the first few scenes though in the beginning, Jack and Sam do some more of their (basically patented) conversational skills where Jack half-asks a question and Sam immediately picks up on what he wants to know/where he's headed, and answers him perfectly. Also, when Jack attempts to pierce the shield with the knife, and Aeris-Boc laughs at his attempt, Jack and Sam share a brief look. When Aeris-Boc then tells them to remove their weapons or he'll kill someone, Jack immediately looks to Sam and gestures that she follow Aeris-Boc's order. He just has to hear the threat of death and immediately he searches her out to ensure that nothing happens to her! :)

2) Locked Up: The initial 'trapped in the cell/room on the spaceship' scene has a couple of interesting little bits and pieces for SJ fodder in it. The first one occurs just after they've been locked in there. The moment the door closes, Sam swiftly turns to face Jack and points out what she thinks is an important fact and one that Jack doesn't see the relevance of.

Sam: Sir, he's not Goa'uld.
Jack: And? But? So? Therefore?

Jack's response, coupled with a hand gesture that states: please, continue, explain; leaves Sam without a reply. She stares at him for a moment before removing her cap, shrugging in a very Jack-like style as she shakes her head slightly. Obviously, that fact wasn't as important as she thought. :) The next one, although not an 'SJ moment' per se, is when Jack asks Teal'c how fast the vessel can go. Teal'c responds that it can go twice the speed of light, to which Jack quips "nice... home for dinner". Sam responds by gathering his attention and then after 'techno-babbling' briefly, points out that flying the ship to Earth would take at least 10 years to accomplish. Jack stares at her for a moment, considering her words, before looking away and wryly commenting: "should have let the dog out".

3) Informing The Galaxy: When Aeris-Boc asks 'Captain' Carter to treat his wound, she points out that she's no longer a Captain, she's a Major. At which point Aeris-Boc wonderfully and sarcastically comments with: "Oh, well how very important--I'll inform the galaxy. Can you get over here now and help me: *Major*!" And to make the scene SJ, Sam then looks to Jack and doesn't move anywhere until Jack nods his head that she should/can help him.

4) Staying Alive: Aeris-Boc has just semi-explained his employment, causing Sam to ask: "How do you keep from getting killed?" Aeris-Boc's reply is: "Takes talent." At which point, Jack repeats Sam's question of: "So, how do you keep from getting killed?" Sam's response is to pause in her treatment of Aeris-Boc's wound and to look at Jack, visibly struggling not to smile.

5) Hating Goa'uld's: When Aeris-Boc points out that everyone hates Goa'uld's, Sam's face drops slightly, as if thinking of the Tok'ra and how they are on the 'non-hate list'. Then, when Jack agrees to help Aeris-Boc in capturing a Goa'uld, Sam looks at him, a little shocked, no doubt still thinking of the Tok'ra.

6) Two Go, Two Stay: When SG1 are informed that Jack and Daniel will go with Aeris-Boc, and that Sam and Teal'c will stay behind in the ship, Jack immediately begins to protest, before reluctantly agreeing. As Jack and Daniel leave, Sam takes a couple of steps after them, obviously uncomfortable/upset/disturbed (project with me here :) over Jack leaving.

7) Attempting Escape: Jack and Daniel have returned to release Sam and Teal'c and fly the ship to a nearby 'Stargate' planet. As they're trying out combinations, they discover the ship's self-destruct mechanism. As Teal'c agrees/states this, Sam on her side of the door, closes her eyes in a semi-defeat/oh-boy type of way. On his side, Jack makes a similar gesture (are they in tune with each other or what!). :) When Daniel announces that they've "lost another digit", Jack comments "of course we did" and on her side of the door, Sam steps away muttering "oh boy". Not much but cute! :)

8) Three Go, One Stay: When Aeris-Boc announces that this time, Sam will be staying with him and that the three men will go after the Goa'uld, Jack looks at Sam and then promptly and firmly states "unacceptable". Unfortunately, Aeris-Boc will not be swayed, stating that if the men don't return, Aeris-Boc will turn her over to Sok'ar. Jack reluctantly has to agree to leave her with Aeris-Boc.

9) Rescuing Sam: As the men reach the area where Sam lies unconscious, Aeris-Boc having shot her, Teal'c offers to go after Sam. Jack restrains him, telling him that he'll go. As Jack reaches Sam, at ground level with her, he places his head close to hers and quietly whispers in her ear "Carter?" before reaching out to feel for a pulse. As he touches her neck, she startles awake, causing Jack to gain her attention again before asking her where Aeris-Boc is. She doesn't answer him, but as Aeris-Boc's ship appears before them, hovering, Sam moves to a sitting position, Jack still behind/next to her.

10) Waking Sam: Back in the cell/room on the ship, Sam is passed out on the floor, a cap waving above her. The camera pulls back and we see that it's Jack sitting there, fanning her. He calls out to her, and when she doesn't respond, he starts to say her name again before halting it in mid-word, hand reaching down to grip her chin and shake her head slightly.

Jack: Carter? (Pause.) Cart-- (He grips her chin.) Carter! Come on. (Sam startles awake at his touch, looking at him with surprise.) You passed out again. (His voice softens.) You alright?

Sam raises her head, giving him a 'thumbs up' as she attempts to sit up. Jack also moves, shifting back yet the two remain close, both reclining slightly as they talk... and both looking very comfortable with their close proximity.

Sam: Yep. What'd I miss?
Jack: Oh, nothing much.

They then go on to discuss the Goa'uld being in fact, a Tok'ra named Korra. At which point, the door suddenly opens causing them both to move. As Jack stands, Sam reaches out towards him and instinctively, Jack helps to pull her up.

11) The Explosion: As Jack climbs a slight incline, he turns back to help the others: first the Tok'ra, Korra, then Daniel and finally Sam. As Jack lets go of Sam, they see an explosion in the sky--Aeris-Boc's ship--and the two escape pod's.
