SG1 arrive on a planet called Vias. The Stargate is stored in a warehouse, it appears to be unused. Jack introduces the team to the pair of natives that arrive who tell them of an occurance a year before, called the Vorilix, where the people of the world collectively lost all their memories. Their Elders (found in pictures) are gone and there are no children.
SG1 are taken to meet a woman called Kiera, who is Minister of Health, Science, and the Restructuring of the Vias Transitional Government. Kiera, upon learning that they are from another world and that Daniel is a Dr. "but of the past" asks for their help. Vias' agriculture and industry are falling apart due to the memory loss and Kiera fears that when winter comes, their lack of food etc would cause a disaster.
A large library contains all the knowledge of the Vians and here Kiera mentions a journal article that had the word Stargate in it. A Doctor writes about a visitor who claims to have come from 'beyond the stars themselves' through the device called a Stargate, SG1 are immediately wary of this and ask this visitor's name. Looking through the book Kiera finds the relevant part. "Here it is, she calls herself Linnea."
Dr Fraiser arrives in Vias. SG1 feels responsible for what Linnea has done to the world as they were the ones to help free her from her prison in the first place and consequently have decided to do everything they can to help the Vians. Jack comments that amnesia doesn't fit with Linnea's 'Destroyer of Worlds' nickname, Sam suggests that with the way the Vian's struggling it very well could. Daniel and Kiera appear to be getting along very well, Sam and Jack exchange looks at *how* well. Sam finds Linnea's diary and Janet suggests they take some volunteer Vians back to Earth to make it easier to find a cure.
Back at the SGC Janet identifies an identicle residue in each of the Vian's brains between synapses - suggesting that the memories are intact but just blocked. While showing Kiera to her room, Daniel is obviously fighting with nerves, which she overcomes by kissing him. She explains it by saying that, when she gets her memory back, she might find herself attached to another person. Danny's reply is - "Then I guess that's why I should do this" as he reaches for her.
Sam has been reading Linnea's diary, attempting to find information that could help them with the cure. She discusses with the Colonel how Linnea found that a chemical the Vian's used to use adversely affected their fertility rate, therefore no children, causing it to be banned. She also found out that this chemical slowed the aging process, and used that to attempt to create a fountain of youth for herself in experiments. Sam figures the experiment worked and that the Vorilix was just an unforeseen side-effect. The Elders were gone because the Vian's *were* the Elders, and with Kiera's medical skills and knowledge of chemistry, she could be Linnea.
Briefing, SG1 along with Hammond and Dr Fraiser discussing what to do about the Kiera-Linnea thing after DNA tests prove that she's the same person. Daniel defends her against their mistrust, with the idea that she is no longer the same person. Sam and Janet struggle to dissolve the chemical residue from the brain without affecting the living tissue and find that the only way they were going to find a cure is with Kiera's help. It is decided that as long as she doesn't take the antidote that she comes up with, it should be safe for her to help.
The first antidote is tested on a Vian, and after the man is resusitated they find that it hasn't worked. Kiera realises what went wrong and insists to fix it right away and try the test again, the others in the room tell her almost forcefully that they were taking a break. In a corridoor Jack approaches Daniel and warns him about his involvement with Kiera - "if she remembers who she is, you'll be the first to go"
The second antidote is completed and is found to work, as she leaves the lab Kiera steals a slide containing the antidote. Daniel escorts her back to her room and as she stands there they discuss that she will return to Vias without taking the antidote, she nods and replies - "all debts have now been paid" - a direct quote from when Linnea left them last time. Daniel realises that she has taken the antidote and races back to her room to find her holding two vials, she wants to use them together to create enough poisonous gas to kill herself, finding this evil half of herself. Jack and Teal'c rush in, Daniel just tells her that all she has to do is forget.
Kiera created a specialised version of the Vorilix to give herself amnesia again, she returns to Vias with the two others. Before she steps through the event horizon, she turns to Daniel and asks if, before her memory loss they knew eachother well, his reply is "no, no we never really did" The Vians step through.
