OVERALL OPINION Quite a few shippy moments to this first of two parts. Lots of Jack playing protector for Sam, which is nice to see, even if she doesn't really need it. <G> This one is relatively high on my shippy scale.

1) Opening The Door: In the first scene of this episode, Sam joins Jack in the control room where they see a worm hole has been established. They find out it's the Tok'ra who are coming to visit. Jack turns to Sam and smiles, saying "Maybe it's Dad", to which she replies, with a smile, "Maybe." They're being *very* familiar with each other here, and in front of everyone no less!

2) Watch The Hands: Martouf has been explaining what happened with Jacob to Jack and Sam. Jack suddenly finds himself walking alone and turns to see Martouf holding Sam's hand a couple of feet back from him. With a somewhat bothered look on his face, Jack walks back to them and takes Martouf's attention away from Sam.

3) Departure 101: Before they leave the briefing room to head off for Naatu (sp), Jack and Sam share a look.

4) Departure 201: Just before they leave for their mission, Hammond says to Sam that she will bring her father back home. She doesn't respond, but Jack, while looking first at her, then at Hammond, then back at Sam, responds affirmatively and confidently. He's trying to keep Sam's spirits up and support her.

5) En Route: As Martouf helps Sam remember with the memory device, you can see Jack looking on uncomfortably in the background. He doesn't like to be listening in on this conversation since there's some things he'd rather not know that Sam knows about Jolinar and Martouf's relationship.

6) Turn It Off: As Sam screams for Martouf to shut off the memory device, Daniel and Jack wake up quickly. Jack, looking very worried, tells Martouf to do as Sam says. This is the first signs of him being protective of her in this episode.

7) Take It Easy: When Martouf starts pushing Sam to remember and she can't, Jack takes Martouf aside and defends Sam by telling the Tok'Ra to lay off a bit and that they'll find a way out, no matter what. This is the second time he becomes protective of Sam.

8) Chivrilary: Jack hands Sam her weapon. He's still holding her gear for her! [G]

9) Happy Landings: Once their pods land on Naatu, we see Jack get out of his. The first person he calls for? Sam.

10) The Depths Of Hell: The denizens of Naatu are closing in on our gang, so Jack takes out his gun and points it at those advancing. Binar appears and knocks Jack down with his ribbon device and Sam then whips out her gun to defend him.

11) The Pit: Sam is to be taken to Binar, but Jack taunts Binar's first prime in an attempt to protect Sam from being taken. She is able to convince Jack that her going to Binar is the only way for her to find out more information. Sam then looks Jack square in the eye and asks him (not Daniel or Martouf) to look after her father, and he readily agrees.

12) Return: Sam is returned to the pit and Jack is the only one to ask if she's all right. When she informs him that she's good, he then tells her that her dad is fine. Shows he's most definitely concerned for her welfare, and knows that the first person she wants to know about is her father.
