The ep starts with Jack visiting Daniel in the infirmary. Daniel, poor lad, who really doesn't look well the whole ep, has had appendicitis. Jack then goes to see Sam who is welding something on one of her doohickeys - he kind of invites her to go fishing with him to Minnesota (sp?). She refuses, he leaves, she chases after him and appears to be about to change her mind when Jack disappears in a blue flash of light. Sam recognises this as an Asgard transporter. Jack, meanwhile, is on Thor's ship. He meets a load of the blue lego spiders (Thor later says they are called replicators) and eventually finds Thor. Thor says he's dying and his ship has been overrun by the replicators who are on their way to Earth, with the intention of infesting it. He shows Jack plans etc of the ship to help him work out how to destroy it. Jack contacts the SGC using a hologram type communication device and tells Carter and Teal'c to send explosives but they are not to go to the ship themselves as anyone on the ship will die when it is destroyed.

Sam and Teal'c beam to the ship with the explosives - Jack isn't happy that his orders have been disobeyed but Sam says Hammond overruled him because they have a way off the ship. The space shuttle is preparing for launch, and can pick them up after they've blown the ship. (They have space suits). Thor then tells them that explosives won't work within the ship because of dampening fields, so Sam suggests planting a bomb on the outside of the ship and blowing up the engine that controls re-entry, therefore making the ship burn up when it hits the atmosphere. Teal'c volunteers for the space walk (nice line here - when Jack asks him to say something to check his radio is working, he says "One small step for a Jaffa..."). As Teal'c is leaving through the airlock, it becomes infested with replicators and some 'stuff' (looked kind of like mercury) drips on Teal'c's backpack. Teal'c plants the bomb but when he tries to get back in the airlock won't work, then his air supply fails (caused by the dripping 'stuff'). Sam says she can transport him inside, but not from close to the ship - he has to push off and get clear of the ship for the transporter to pick him up. She manages to do this in the end. They try to contact Hammond but the communication device is no longer working.

Meanwhile, back at the SGC - Daniel has gone to the control room with General Hammond and Major Davis. They are tracking the ship as it begins to descend then the Stargate disappears in a flash of blue light. Daniel guesses that SG1 have taken it to use it to escape and Hammond orders the beta gate to be unpacked.

Teal'c does a manual dial to P3X334 (or it could have been P3X234?). They push Thor in his stasis pod through and are shooting at the replicators, waiting for the ship to be far enough into its descent to make it impossible for it to pull out when they blow the bomb. Sam says 'Now', Jack blows the bomb. SGC get reports of a fireball hitting the Pacific.

The last shot we see is wreckage in the sea with a replicator crawling on it.....
