Hello. Glad you stopped by.
I am a 48 year old driven, educated, motivated, professional, and at times a real handful of a SWM who tries almost daily to figure out what this life is all about.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, and after college moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1982. Some things have really changed since I moved here and other things...well...some things haven't changed at all.
When I moved to Virginia cable was new to the city, nobody had a CD player or a Laptop Computer or a decent American car, and many of us hate to admit this but "dress pants" were still mostly polyester...Yeck!
After living in "the south" for some time, I've had plenty of khaki pants, owned more than one navy blazer, had repp stripe ties and usually prefered button-down shirts. And yes, I love biscits and ice tea and can even deal with grits (just put sugar on them). Now, some things like the humidity you never ever get used to no matter what anybody tells you. And don't get crazy since I still will come out with statements that make me sound like the blue-collar, northeastern working class liberal guy which is part of my growing up. I have been "mellowed" by living below the Mason-Dixion line so I try and restrain myself).
And after almost 24 years to the day I moved to Richmond I moved to Newport News, Virginia. I have now lived on The Peninsula over two years. It is hard to believe that 75 miles would not make any great cultural difference, but this is a very different place than Central Virginia. The pace is much more laid back, you have to drive to get anywhere (vs. walking in an urban neighborhood or taking any form of public transit), and just about anywhere you go something is under construction.
Oh yea, in my professional jobs I still wear "dress clothes" but every shirt is 100% cotton, pants are all wool or a "year round" tropical wool blend or cotton, you get idea so I guess I am on the "program" for a "corporate look".
Now, when I'm not at work it's "causal", and just about anywhere you go once the nice weather goes that is the dress code.
