The Not-So-Inerrant Bible
In my quest to inform people about atheism...particularly in the area I live in...the topic of the Bible comes up often. There are some people who actually believe every word of the Bible. They actually believe that it is completely without error. For those of you who don't know already, these people are commonly called fundamentalist Christians (but a lot of atheists call 'em fundies, for short).
Fundamentalists have obviously never read the Bible...if they did, they weren't paying much attention to it. I have listed below some of the best contradictions in the Bible. Break your Bible out, and look at the following passages.

1. "Let there be light!" We all know this phrase from Genesis 1:3. It goes on to say that God called the light Day, and the darkness Night. However, in Genesis 1:14, it says that he created the starts and the sun. Daylight is caused by the sun, so if he had not created the sun yet, where was the original light coming from?
2. This is the point where Christians blurt out, "I don't care about the Old Testament. The new Testament is all I care about!" Try Matthew 1:16, where is says that Jacob was the father of Joeseph, then compare it to Luke 3:23, where it says Joeseph's father was a guy named He`-li.
3. Compare John 19:17 to Mark 15: 21-23: Did Jesus bear his own cross, or did Simon a Cyrenian carry it for him?
4. Try Mark 16:2 and John 20:1...Did they go to the tomb before or after the sun had risen?
5. Finally, I have another set to compare...Matthew 27:5 and Acts 1:18...Did Judas hang himself, or was he disembowled?

There are still more contradictions in the Bible, but these are a few of the more obvious ones. So, how many of my readers now believe the Bible is inerrant? Anyone?
