Crows
fly attacks
at the '54 Ford tractor
stalled on the oil-soaked gravel
with a flat bed of corn in tow.
The bleak eyes know
the crows will succeed.
He will not return
with blue clenched lips
and pale sweat.
The scarecrow
will rot in the field
and the engine will
rust.
