Regular PTRs are the first kind that ever appeared. They have been around for more then 5 years. These sites send you e-mails, and when you click on the link in the e-mail, your account is credited after the timer runs down. Some people may want to create (a) filter(s) so that e-mails from these sites are sent to a seperate folder. After you click the link, you will sometimes see the sign in page for the site... after you sign in the timer will start. A few sites have no timers, meaning you can close the window immediately and get paid 1 cent. These sites (in general, not just no-timer sites) also have offers that pay you to sign up, however the sites you are signing up for are usually more sites just like these. They are not mortgage quotes or e-mail lists. On all regular PTR sites, you can also pay $1 - $5 to send out ads for your own referral links. All sites I am a member of pay through PayPal. Some also have other options, such as eGold or AlertPay.

When you sign up for these sites, you should click every option available EXCEPT the ones that say, "I don't read English," "Delete Me," etc. Your account will be deleted if you click these. You also may not want to check "Point Ads" or "Cheap Links." Read the section below to find out if you want to check these boxes or not. Also, some sites have "male" and "female," or a list of age groups. Usually you should check all age groups, male AND female, and single AND married. However, some sites will delete you if you do that. Whether or not the site will delete you is listed in the text above the catergories option. If there is no text, they will not delete you for having both male and female checked (however they will still delete you for clicking, "I can't read").

Specifications: Timers - Short timers are 5 - 12 seconds. Long timers are 20 - 40 seconds. Some sites have no timers.

Payout - This is the minimum amount of money you must earn before the site sends payment. In order to get your money, you will usually have to visit the site and hit "pay me." Some sites have random payouts, meaning they will pay you even if you have not reached the minimum payout or requested payment. However, you can set your account to not allow them to do this if you wish.

Points - Some sites have point ads as well as cash ads. Points can be used to advertise your referral links to other sites for free. Some sites also allow points to be converted to cash at an extremely low rate ($.00005 cent per point, for example). Point ads are not sent without your permission unless otherwise specified.

Contests - Some sites have frequent click contests - whoever clicks the most ads that day wins $5, or something like that. Many sites also have a PTC section - the ads give you points, a very low amount of cash, or nothing at all, but one person who clicked in the last 100 ads will win 10 cents.
Multiple Windows - Some sites allow more then one ad opened at a time for credit, and some do not. However one ad from one site can always be open at the same time as an ad from a different site. All sites that do not allow mutliple windows will still allow you to click the same link again and get credit. You can also usually open a new window if the old window has less then 10 seconds left on the timer. Some sites that don't allow multiple windows will give credit if you click "refresh" on the window that says "Ad timers must expire."

Cheap Links - Some sites send cheap links, worth less then 1/10 cent. These are always opt-in, meaning they will only send them if you check the appropiate option in your account. If you sign up for more then 15 regular PTR sites, I recommend NOT having any cheap links sent to you. Sites that send cheap links send 100+ of them per day, however if you uncheck the box you will only get 30 ads or less from that site per day. 500 e-mails per day is very easy to manage (when you try it you will seer this is true), however 1500 per day is not. By not allowing cheap links sent, you will be able to click all links every day and maximize your earnings. However, if you sign up for 15 or less sites, allowing cheap links is good, because you can get all the paid ads possible and earn more money.

PTP - PTP stands for Paid-To-Promote. Sites that ahve PTP links give you credit every time someone views your referral page, much like the newsfeed known on Yuwie. These are listsed as, for example, $1.10 per 1,000 views ($1.10/1000).

Referral Levels - The referral levels for most sites are listed as "10, 5, 3, 1, 1." That means you get 10% of first level earnings, 5% of 2nd level earnings, etc.

Trouble with the site
As I said earlier, you have to sign in to the site to get credit for your visit. So the very first time you click a link on a computer, it will ask to sign in, then it will give you credit immediately after signing in. Also, sometimes you may see a turing number ("click the matching nuber to verify you are a human"). You will have to click these once every 30 minutes for each site, however, not all sites use turing numbers. If you already clicked the number or already signed in, and you have another ad for the same site in another window, you can refresh the page instead of typing or clicking again, and it will give you credit when you refresh.
