| Robert Richmond, a player I have finally had the pleasure to meet, is currently on 1/2 this season. He led the new look Slough 2 side to victory in their first match over Athenaeum 1, with an impressive looking victory over Clive Wismayer (2136), although he confessed later that his attack should only have yielded perpetual check. He was then inexplicably demoted to board 3, a decision that saw him lose to Michael White (2068) in a Philidors Defence that looked tricky right out of the opening. He fought a brave rearguard action, but it cost him a huge amount of time on the clock and he eventually went down. Last seasons games are now in the Robert Richmond archive, here. |
