Since our inception more than twenty people have played nets. Some of these guys only played for one season. The majority of these goalies wore the proper equipment. Rick MacAskill, who passed away in September of 2008 after a long battle with cancer, never wore a mask or goalie pads when he played in the late 70's and early 80's. Paul Church played from September 1984 until September 1987. He never wore a goalie mask during his career with us even though he was hit in the face on a few occasions. Paul also didn't wear a chest protector. Gary Greene didn't wear his goalie mask on a consistent basis. Gary usually started the night with his mask on but before the evening was over he had taken the mask off. Goalies are definitely a different breed of player. |
