1. What is the one key idea of this chapter. pay attention to the title of the chapter!
The one key idea of Chapter 7 is being called to a life of love. John's Gospel contains images and symbolism expressing Jesus' divinity and love/compassion to all of humankind. We see in numerous signs such as Jesus changing water to wine, healings of the crippled, feeding of five thousand, Jesus walking on water, curing of the blind, and the raising of Lazarus that Jesus loves us and wants us to share in the new life he provides in the spiritual meaning of all of his miracles. Jesus loves us so much that he wants us to share a new life with him and his Father in Heaven. Another action Jesus performed to show his love in action was his conversation with the Samaritan woman; he broke this taboo of ecluding and shuning the Samaritans and women. He teaches us to love, to serve, to chose unity and to choose Jesus all the way to death. Jesus is the ultimate example of love through his words and actions, and he loves us so much that he wants us to share in his love.
2. Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
One major idea that I want to remember is the signs of Jesus. All of these signs show and confirm the truth of Jesus being the Son of God; this supports the incarnation, God becoming man. The spiritual meaning found within these following miracles and signs is that a new life can be found in the heart of Christ. These miracles and signs Jesus performed include the changing of water to wine, healing of the official's son, healing of a paralytic, feeding of five thousand, walking on water, healing of a blind man, and raising of Lazarus. To more deeply understand these miracles, we need a strong faith which is the "light that brings forth out spiritual birth." I want to remember these signs of Christ because I believe it is necessary in further understanding who Christ is and by further knowing and understanding Jesus, I can grow closer into his heart full of love.
The next major idea that I would like to remember is the teachings of Jesus. Jesus through his words and actions teaches us to love, to serve, and the thought that all may be one. Jesus shows his love when he speaks with the Samaritan woman which was forbidden by the Jews. However, Jesus showed his love for all those who are faithful, and eventually identified himself to this woman as the Savior of the World. We see at the Last Supper in the Gospel of John, Jesus takes a towel and washes each of his disciples feet; he is the suffering servant. "A true teacher teaches by example" much as Jesus did the evening before he was crucified and when he was on the cross. Jesus relationship with Abba was the basis for all his teachings. So Jesus called all of us to unite-God, ourselves and all creation. This relationship is the base for our faith in Jesus. I want to remember the Teachings of Jesus because they strengthen my faith in Jesus. I see Jesus' teachings corresponding to my life today and what values I should live my life by. Jesus shows me to live a life of love, service and relationship.
3. One image that captures the chapter for you.

4. One significant question you have from this chapter. It can be intellectual or personal.
How can I learn to love my enemies and grow in relationchip with God, ourselves and all creation?
Possible Answer: I can grow further into relationship by seeking Jesus' love and values. Jesus teaches us to turn the other cheek and welcome our enemies with love and compassion. By trying to further travel into Jesus' heart, I can learn to accept his teachings and learn to love, serve, and grow in relationship.
