1. What is the one key idea of this chapter. pay attention to the title of the chapter!
The one key idea of Chapter 9 is the call to share the good news. The chapter emphasizes on the attitude of wanting to succeed. The spreading of Jesus' good news was a very challenging task and required a "can do" attitude from his diciples and preachers. These letters were refered to as epistles and were written by numerous authors to proclaim important messages for many diverse audiences. The messages focused on encouragment, instruction, grace, justice, the body of Christ, the cross, relationship, trials, forgiveness, sexuality and many more topics asked by the people. The letters were also broken into categories such as the Pauline Letters, Captivity Letters, Pastoral Letters, and Catholic Letters. The main goal of all of these letters to the followers of Christ was to unite all people in the body of Christ and his good news. Through the strengthening of relationship, encouragement and instruction, the church grew into a prosperous community of love and service.
2. Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
One major idea in Chapter 9 that I want to remember is the section of Paul's Letters focussed on the Body of Christ. Grace filled Christ's body and gave him the strength to perform his amazing words and actions. Jesus talked of justice during his ministry and the importance of equality among all. "According to Paul having faith in God is more important than living the Law." This quote signifies that Jesus stressed relationship with the Father and always trusting in him. Probably the most important message found in Christ's Body was the theme of the Passion and the cross. Jesus tells us that suffering is a part of life and through his suffering, victory is crowned to life over death and light over dark. Those who are faithful are the ones who see the true love and Passion of Christ. I want to remember this main idea because it helps to build my relationship with Jesus in knowing his suffering and triumph over death.
Another major idea in Chapter 9 that I want to remember is the issue of trials in life. This issue was written to the Corinthians by Paul in their need for encouragement and understanding of God. Paul tells the Corinthians and us today that trials are common to all and don't just affect you. He stressed that the Lord never will test you beyond your capability to reject sin. He offers a way out through trusting in Him and His sone Jesus Christ. Faith, hope and love give you strength through these trials of life. I want to remember this major idea because I endure many temptations in my life each day and sometimes I give into temptation because it is too hard to reject. Now realizing that God nevers tempts me beyond my strength gives me hope and passion to turn away from sin and temptation.
3. One image that captures the chapter for you.

4. One significant question you have from this chapter. It can be intellectual or personal.
Why were women in the times of and after Jesus looked down upon by followers of Christ such as Peter, when they truly were "the backbone" of the early Christian Church?
Possible Answer: Women may have been despised because of their social status compared to men. Also maybe the male followers of Christ were embarrased or jealous that women were more faithful towards Christ.
