When the Roman Christians infiltrated the Irish Celtic people they took over the ceremonies and holidays and made them their own. The Celtic people had both Handfasting and Weddings. The later of the two was the more permanent bond, while the first was a "trial" period of adjustment.

Though today we find many Handfastings being performed much like a Wedding ceremony with more permanent wording. You may change the wording according to you own particular needs and desires. These rituals are for your use and enjoyment.
