The LAST UNICORN Movie

Based on the classic fantasy book by Peter S. Beagle (b 1939). It was a joint production of Japanese and US animation, and was a marvel for any time, or genre. A Rankin/Bass Production in assoiciation with ITC films... The executive Producer was Martin Starger. It encluded such voice talents as: Mia Farrow/Unicors-Amalthea, Alan Arkin/Schnemndrick, Christopher Lee/King Haggard, Jeff Bridges/Prince Lir, Angela Lansbury/Mama Fortuna, Tammy Grimes/Molly Grue. Then there was also Rene Auberjonois (Odo on Deep Space Nine), Paul Frees, Keenan Wynn, Robert Klein and Brother Theodore.
The story follows the unicorn who leaves her enchanted forest where she has lived forever. She happens upon a butterfly one day and asks her are there others of her kind. The butterfly responds no - that she is the only one left. The others have been captured and imprisoned by the evil King Haggard. The last unicorn decides to go on a quest - leave her enchanted forest to find and release the others. On her journey she is joined by an incompetent wizard (Schmendrick the magician) and a middle-aged scullery maid (Molly).
Together they travel to the castle of King Haggard, where he and his magical Red Bull have the unicorns trapped in the sea. Just before they arrive at the castle, the Red Bull appears and chases the unicorn. To save her, Schmendrick turns her into a human girl and named her Lady Amalthea. The Red Bull can no longer recognize her as the last unicorn and they finally reach their destination.
King Haggard recognizes Lady Amalthea for what she truly is just by looking into her eyes and seeing no reflection. But he allows them to stay at the castle anyway, not believing they would find the unicorns they seek. The king's adopted son, Prince Lir, falls in love with Lady Amalthea and devotes himself to winning her love. Molly and Schmendrick try endlessly to find the lost unicorns, and as they look, Lady Amalthea begins to lose her memory of being a unicorn and starts falling in love with the prince. But in the end, the unicorns are found and released, Schmendrick returns Lady Amalthea to her former being.
The only thing being is that now, she is the only unicorn who can love and feel regret.
