WORKSHEET FOR SPELLS

Type of Spell or Formula:

This is the very first step in creating your own ritual or spell. You must first know what you want done, before putting into action, how it is to be done. Health, wealth, happiness, fortune, luck. Like a Christian prayer, your ritual is a request to the Gods on your own behalf. The old adage applies though: Careful what you wish for, you may get it.

Date & Time Made:

Catalog your work in a note book or perhaps place the steps for your ritual in your BOS. This way you may come back when you are ready to write another. Use the Date and Time to track your work from beginning to end. This will also allow you to track your progress from beginning to end as well.

Reference:

Keep a list of references, such as books or web sites you use for writing your rituals. If you use someone elses work on a regular basis, it is a good idea to keep an accounting of this. Eventually you will find your own style, even an emulation of someone you respect and admire. As you go along, you will acquire the talent for writing some wonderful ritual all on your own. Still it is always a nice idea to keep a record of how you began.

Astrological Phase:

Now we must look at the action you are taking. If you are increasing your health or luck, for instance, you will want to do your ritual during the Waxing Moon or the Full Moon. If you are decreasing, say your weight, you will want to do your ritual during the Waxing or New Moon phase. Important also is the day of the week, as each day represents a different balance in the universe. Generally speaking if you are increasing, Monday - Wednesday. If you are decreasing, Thursday - Saturday. The lucky person is the one who can match both the phase of the Moon to the day of the week. If you must do one OR the other, the Moon phase is the most important thing to consider.

Specific Purpose:

Now we move on to the actual rough draft and then final copy. If you are Wiccan, you must keep in mind the Wiccan Rede. I personally have always found this rather impossible to do and thank the Gods daily of having been spared the Wiccan calling. I mean you really can't do ANYTHING without some harm done to others. Even if harm was not your intent, that was what happened. For example: You do a ritual to increase your money. You win the lotto, but took now half of what would have been going to just one person. Is that harm? Yes. You in effect took what was not your - stole. Or you do ritual for money and your aunt dies (she has been sick so that is not the problem), the problem is that 2 days before she died, she changed her will to leave everything to you. You have a house, car, children, spouse already. The money would have gone to a charity to help others. Have you harmed - Yes. No matter how you slice it, you cannot do ritual for yourself or others without harming someone.

So the Rede aside, lets go by basic ground rules: 1) make sure personal greed is not the influence 2) How will this request impact your life 3) what is the use for the thing your desire 4) How much surface harm is there (your friends, family, etc…) 5) The intent of the ritual - keeping in mind that ALL traditions have a form of Karmanic law.

Those are the thoughts that go through my mind when creating my own ritual request. You find a balance between you and others. If you go into a ritual with no malice, you should be fine.

List Of Ingredients &/or Supplies Needed:

Depending on what you are writing the ritual for, you will need various items in order to perform the ritual. For instance, if you are seeking love, you will need a red or pink candle, patchouli incense or oil for burning. Some herbs for your quest for love are rose and carnation petals. Other rituals will require other items, but you get the idea. In later links there will be list of herbs, colors, candles and crystals for you to choose from. Music is another nice addition to your ritual.

Specific Location Required:

A very important phase of writing your ritual is the choice of sacred space in which to perform your ritual. This place should be out of the traffic of the household, quiet and entirely your own. A basement or back room perhaps. An attic will also do quite well. Anyplace you may feel comfortable in. When preparing to actually do the ritual, take the phones off the hook and turn off whatever background noise you can that may disturb your concentration. Tell friends and family you will be out of the house at that time to decrease the chances of you being disturbed by an unexpected visitor.

Results:

When you are done with your ritual, you may wish to catalog your results. Feelings, visions and power felt. What you saw in your mind, the motion of the candles and the response felt within regarding the culmination of your ritual goals. You may keep this information in your BOS, but it is sometimes a good idea to keep a separate diary for this information.

Deities Invoked During Preparation &/or Use:

If you follow a specific tradition, such as Greek, you will choose the deity associated with your ritual goal for the invoking and charging functions of casting the circle. Call on the power of that specific God and Goddess. If you are of the Wiccan tradition or other "thrown together" tradition, you may choose whatever vision of the Gods you wish. In either case, focus your worship and requests to those invoked and charged Gods. Ask them as a Christian would pray for the desired ending you seek to your ritual.

Step By Step Instructions For Preparations:

1) Meditate on your goal 2) write out your desire 3) Pick the appropriate day and time for your ritual 4) Acquire the items, such as candle, incense and crystals 5) Choose a Sacred Space to perform your ritual 6) Select appropriate music if you wish 7) Select the Gods to be invoked and charged 8) When the ritual is finished, record your findings. You may use the RITUAL RECORD SHEET if you wish, or make one of your own.

Additional Notes:

Remember, contrary to the Christian mass, a Pagan ritual is supposed to be fun and happy. A time to commune with the Gods and communicate with your higher self. An inner feeling of peace should be felt.

How To Write Your Own Rituals

1. Write the names of all the Sabbats on individual pieces of paper.

2. Write notes about each of the Sabbats significance, colors, symbols, etc.

3. Collect information on Sabbats ,(ie-books, web sites, etc, above too), and find the "common themes" among them & list.

4. Write your own "words" for the ritual...or even use other "words" you've found that you are comfortable with.

5. Now with that information, start writing the rituals, one by one. Be sure you are comfortable with what you have chosen. And, be sure you add the casting of the circle, the thanks, and closing of the circle to the rituals.

6. Now copy these rituals into your BOS.

7. Don't be afraid to "experiment" with them, it's all what is "good for you", no one has "The Correct and Only Way" to perform a ritual.

Just remember to let it come naturally to you, the Goddess sometimes plays a part in these things too! =)

Pleaes find in the links below a chart matrix for keeping track of your feelings, impressions and findings after each ritual you do. Kinda like a diary. Feel free to copy and change according to your own specific needs.
