"the Beast"

==> THIS IS NOW A 12 SECOND STREET CAR <==
12.78 @ 110.26mph w/ 1.92 60'
April 20, 2002

My name is Michael Lis and this is my 1987 Monte Carlo SS.
Aptly Dubbed "the Beast" by those who worship it, and the women and children who run from it!

Born during the Monte Carlo domination of NASCAR, this street version was not quite as potent.
(at least until I got my hands on it).

In my family there is little substitution for a General Motors product.
this is the way my father (Steve) raised two sons (John and myself)  and a daughter (Mandi).
this is the way I plan to raise my kids as well.

this car would have never seen the road if it were not for my father and brother.  My father gave selflessly in helping me achieve the "final" product.  Heck, he found the rust bucket for me in the first place.

She was purchased with my first 3 pay checks, when I became a draftsman in late August of 1998.  She sat in the lot outside my Dad's old shop for a week or so before we fixed up the front end and I took it to the drags.  With my buddy Dave, "we" drove 2 and 1/2 hours to Dragway Park Cayuga.  the funny thing was that the driver's seat was falling through the floor and caused me to lean toward Dave the whole way.  At the track I knocked of some low 17 second passes @ 77ish mph. When she got to running 22 second ETs I knew something was wrong.  She was showing a loss of oil pressure and would not idle.  It was quite the ride home two footing her all the way.  Really spooky when you are over two hours from home.  this was our first adventure together... me and the SS that is.

Since then I have invested much time and loads of money getting her to the stage you find at the top of this page.
