Stages |
Below is a list along with pictures of the 18 starting stages and the 11 secret stages. |
MUSHROOM KINGDOM: Princess Peach's Castle |
![]() |
This stage takes place on the rooftop of Peach's castle. Buttons appear at different times and of different colors, each different color makes that color block appear and when hit items will come out of the blocks. Look out for incoming explosives. |
MUSHROOM KINGDOM: Rainbow Cruise |
![]() |
The Rainbow Cruise stage moves a lot. You have to keep up with the movement of all the different objects and platforms to keep from falling off. Like all mobile levels, this level will go through a cycle of movement then repeat the same cycle again until the game is over. |
DK ISLAND: Kongo Jungle |
![]() |
Kongo Jungle takes place over a raging waterfall. There is a barrel cannon that moves along the bottom of the stage, if you should happen to fall, hope it is near. Watch out! There are Klaptraps in the water. |
DK ISLAND: Jungle Japes |
![]() |
This stage takes place in front of a house on a river. If you fall in the river, you will be pulled with its flow until you reach the edge and get KO'd. If you look closely into the window of the house, you can see Cranky Kong. Klaptraps will jump out of the water and try to get you, watch out. |
TERMINA: Great Bay |
In this stage you get a nice view of a moon that gets closer and closer. Tinkle inflates his balloon which you can use as a platform until somone pops it and the giant turtle is good battle ground until it sinks into the water. |
HYRULE: Temple |
![]() |
The Hyrule Temple has no level hazards, but it is the largest stage in SSBM. |
YOSHI'S ISLAND: Yoshi's Story |
Yoshi's Story is one of the smaller stages. A smiling cloud moves along a track near the bottom of this stage, use the cloud as a platform. You can replenish health here by taking food from the flying Shy Guys. Don't worry, I plan on getting a better pic. |
YOSHI'S ISLAND: Yoshi's Island |
![]() |
This stage has some hard to spot hazards. A hazard that many do not see right away is the slanted sides of this stage that allow barrels to roll into unfortunate characters. A more obvious hazard is the yellow blocks. When hit, they will spin and no longer be a platform until they stop spinning. |
DREAM LAND: Fountain of Dreams |
This stage is mainly eye candy. It is similar to Battlefield, but it has better music and a lot more to look at. The only thing in it that one might consider a hazard is of the 3 platforms in this stage, 2 of them move up and down slowly. |
DREAM LAND: Green Greens |
![]() |
![]() |
Green Greens has a numerous amount of hazards. For one, breakable blocks fall on each side of the stage and sometimes explosive blocks. Then there is the tree in the middle. It blows you to either side of the stage and drops apples on you as well. |
LYLAT SYSTEM: Corneria |
![]() |
In Corneria, you battle it out along the top of the Great Fox. You can also land on its fore guns. The hazards here are Arwings and Wolfens that fire at the players and the Great Fox also fire, not at any character, but if your in the way...(looking for a better pic). |
LYLAT SYSTEM: Venom |
![]() |
Here, the Great Fox is flying through Venom. Unlike Corneria, the battle here is fought on the wings of the Great Fox rather than across the top. The level hazards are the same here as in Corneria minus the Great Fox's blasters. (The blue laser on the pic is coming from the Wolfen in the top right of the pic, NOT the Great Fox.) |
INFINITE GLACIER: Icicle Mountain |
![]() |
This stage scrolls, A LOT! Icicle Mountain is constantly moving up or down. That in itself is hazard enough, but in Adventure Mode there are enemies such as Topis and Polar Bears to fight as well. The blue seals in this picture are not in the US version of SSBM. |
music: Fountain of Dreams, Super Smash Brothers Melee |

PLANET ZEBES: Brinstar |
COMING SOON |
This familiar stage of Samus' has a few new features. Besides the fact that parts of the background are different, there also parts of this stage that you can attack. When broken, these parts will cause a minor change in the stage. Oh yeah, and there is that acid that rises and falls, it can deal some mean damage, but it has also been known to save lives. |
PLANET ZEBES: Brinstar Depths |
![]() |
The Brinstar Depths stage has an interesting hazard. Kraid, the big guy in the background, will attack the battleground causing it to rotate, so make sure you know where you are standing. If you fall, you lose a life. No acid here to save you. To unlock this stage, complete 50, 100, 150, or 200 vs. mode battles. It will be unlocked at one of those numbers randomly |
EAGLELAND: Onett |
![]() |
This stage is a parent's nightmare. All these little kids playing on roofs and in the street. While they run the risk of being hit by oncoming traffic, they can also fall victim to collapsing awnings. If there is anything to be learned from this stage, it is; don't get in front of people who drink and drive. |
EAGLELAND: Fourside |
![]() |
Atop the Monotoli building and other skyscrapers you and your opponents will duke it out, but look out! You have some alien visitors watching the fight. They don't like to be disturbed, so they made their UFOs very slippery to discourage you from fighting on them, but will that stop you? To unlock this stage, complete 50, 100, 150, or 200 vs. mode battles. It will be randomly unlocked at one of those options. |
F-ZERO GRAND PRIX: Mute City |
![]() |
Battles in this stage take place on a low-floating platform over the Mute City race track. The platform will frequently land on the track leaving you and your opponents vulnerable to oncoming racers. If you get mad at the cars just time your strongest attack right and you can blow one up:) |
F-ZERO GRAND PRIX: Big Blue |
![]() |
This stage starts on Captain Falcon's own ship, Big Blue. The Big Blue hovers closely over an F-Zero race. You can jump down onto the racers below, but they won't drive easy just for you. The will go up, down, and even off the track. You gotta keep up with the race, cause if you hit the road, they will all pass you. These battles must put millions on the carwash bill. To unlock this stage complete 50, 100, 150, or 200 vs. mode battles. It will be randomly unlocked at one of those options. |
KANTO: Pokémon Stadium |
![]() |
Must...get...better pic. This here is your basic flat stage with 2 platforms ...well not really. This stage starts like a normal stage, but every so often it will change into one of four different environments, each one representing a specific element such as fire or water. There is also a scoreboard in the background that displays the combatants and their stats. |
KANTO SKIES: Poké Floats |
![]() |
Pokémon are on parade here in the Kanto Skies. Fight atop floats of various kinds of pokémon. The big hazards here are the moving floats and that damned scrolling. To unlock this stage complete 50, 100, 150, or 200 vs. mode matches. It will be unlocked randomly at one of those options. |
MUSHROOM: Kingdom |
![]() |
This stage is designed to be just like Mario Bros. for NES. Detailed all the way down to the cloud shapes in the sky, this stages hazards consist of breakable blocks(some containing items), weight-vulnerable platforms, and, as always, your opponent. |
MUSHROOM: Kingdom II |
![]() |
Many may recognize this stage. It is made to be just like Subcon from Mario Bros. 2 for NES. Hazards here are a magic carpet with pidget, Birdo shooting eggs, and waterfall logs that you can be trapped beneath. You can ride Birdo's eggs and the magic carpet. All but the center log falls in this stage. To unlock this stage get the Birdo trophy in the Trophy Lottery. |
