I feel too many women use this method as a form of birth control and this is not what it should be used for. We have so many forms of birth control available in this day and age that there is no excuse for why someone can't use at least one of them.
I myself got pregnant at the age of 17 with my first daughter, who is now 12. Even though it was very difficult and I was still in school, I finished school before she was born. I dealt with a lot of issues. Will I be able to raise her and take care of her because I'm so young? I didn't know but I did the best I could and now she is a very beautiful young woman. I talked to a lady from an adoption agency, but that route was just not for me. In my eyes, this child did not ask to be here but because of my ignorance at the time she was, so I felt it was my responsibility to take care of her, and to this day I have no regrets about that decision. Something I would not be able to say had I ended this unborn child's life.
I also had a miscarriage September 27, 1996,(exactly 3 days before mine and my husbands 1st wedding anniversary), that almost pushed me to the brink of a breakdown because I wanted that child so badly and loved it so much already. I just wish in my heart that some day all children will be wanted this much so that this procedure is no longer needed. My heart goes out to all the couples out there who cannot have children or who have lost one to miscarriage or death, I know how you feel and wish that more of these unwanted pregnancies would end in adoption so that your dreams could come true also.
I know that some pregnancies are unwanted and that sometimes birth control does fail, but that is why we have other options than to end the life of an unborn child. The thing to remember is that this child did not ask to be here, but it's also not the childs fault that it is here, so please don't take it out on them. Give them the same opportunity that your mother gave you, because you too could have been a statistic.
One last note:
Please help us do away with partial birth abortions. These should be outlawed completely! I saw a re-enactment once and it was so horrible that I cry anytime I think about it. No CHILD should have to go through this. This is murder in the first degree in my opinion and the people should be in prison for acts such as this!
