Make Your Own Smilies

Just follow the instructions to create your own unique smilies!
(These instructions work best in Paint Shop Pro 6 or 7.)

Click the 'New' icon and set the options to a width and height of 15 pixels and the background color as green.
You can make the smiley a little bigger or smaller if you wish, but 15x15 is the normal size.

Select the 'Zoom' tool and zoom up on the image to about 20:1.
This makes it easier for you to draw your image.

Select the 'Paintbrush' tool and set the size to 1 pixel.
Draw your smiley (take your time on this and don't be surprised if it doesn't turn out right straight away! To see what your smiley will look like as normal just zoom back out to 1:1.)

Go to the 'Colors' file option and select 'Set Palette Transparency...'

Set the options which come up as shown above and click 'OK'.

Once the 'Set Palette Transparency' window comes up select the option which says "Set the transparency value to the current background color" and make sure the the color selected is green. Click 'OK'.

Select 'File' from the menu options and 'Save As...'
Choose a folder, type a file name and select 'Save as type' to be a .gif
Click the 'Save' button.

Once you've saved your smiley, your image is complete!
You can now use your smiley whereever you like!
