Our next stop was Pisa.

Pisa

The Field of Miracles in Pisa consists of three main buildings, the Duomo, Baptistery, and Campanile (Leaning Tower). The Leaning Tower has become the most famous of the three even though it was originally intended only as a compliment to the main building, the Duomo. Construction on the Leaning Tower begun in 1173 on sandy silt subsoil; it started to tilt even before the third level was complete. The structure was completed in 1350. Our luck was not particularly good the day we visited. There was a jumper about 10 minutes before we arrived at the Tower. The police and rescue vehicle had not even cleared the body by the time we arrived. Obviously, because of this tragedy, the tower was closed to visitors.
