Wheel & Tire Size Data
Front wheel/tire clearance is a problem on '87-'89 GT's because the stock wheels/tires rub on the front aero skirts. Skirts were changed slightly in later years because of this. There are no clearance problems with the LX model.
The suggestions below assume you are using a wheel with the proper width and offset.
In a 15" wheel, the best selection is 245-50x15 which is 1/2" lower and thus will give you 1/2" extra clearance to the front skirt.
In a 16" wheel, the best selection is 245-45x16 which is 1/2" lower and thus will give you 1/2" extra clearance to the front skirt.
In a 17" wheel, the best selection is 245-40x17 which is 1/2" lower and thus will give you 1/2" extra clearance to the front skirt.
