SUPER MARIO KART UPDATED NEWS!

Sami Çetin's update, 4th July 2002

NEW MEMBER

We have a new French Karter joining PAL SMK Time Trials this week. Julien Holmiere is his name. He has made an impressive set of times so far ranging from the Kings to the Pros. He stands at #40 on the PAL Players' List and has an overall standard of Elite D!

UPDATES THIS WEEK

Jamie White continues to deliver some amazing WRs each week! He set a target for Mario Circuit 1 1-lap and after many close hits, got what he wanted with a new WR of 0'11"79!! BC2 lap looked tough but he wanted that one back and got it from Laflamme to a new 0'19"68! VL2 lap is nearing its limits now with the island jump as he hits his latest WR at 0'09"28!! Mario Circuit 4 was the big race this week as he aimed for the GOD time which no one reached yet. He broke the 1'38" barrier but missed the GOD time by 0.02 seconds, so he didn't stop there and continued to kart for an amazing new time of 1'37"77!! His last task was to break the 50 second barrier for VL2, this obviously meant the use of the island jump, very difficult for 5/5 and keeping a good race. He just missed the target, but a new WR of 0'50"16 still looks fantastic!! Sami Çetin had a little go at a few things on PAL and turned to GV2 for a while. After some hard work he pulled out a new 5-lap WR with 1'02"42!!

Karters in U.S.A are getting more dangerous every week! Wes Kight after a great week last week went on to climb to higher ranks. His new GOD times on KB1 and CI2 gave him some bonus points as well as having many other great PRs! He managed to scrape through to the King B overall standard and is #15 in the World on NTSC and #10 in U.S.A!! Darcy White has now had a little battle with Ryan Harrington as they arrive very close on the SR scores. Darcy drove 9 new PRs this week including a GOD lap on VL1 and some other nice records. He remains in the King E standard but moved up a few positions to #23 and did pass Ryan Harrington in the process. Thomas Harrington made 3 new GOD times this week on CI2 5-lap and the laps of BC3 and GV3. These cut a few SR points off putting him right behind Louis-Philippe. Can he pass him next week? We'll see!

Bertrand Voireuchon is proving himself to be a threat to many other karters on PAL as he continuously makes good improvements all round. His KB1 is looking worrying to many of the top karters as he reaches mid 59s already! The Rainbow Road and MC3 times are also looking tight! Bertrand made it to #23 on PAL in the World and #8 in France!! Champion of Germany, Florian Stern set 3 new records to slightly widen the gap between him and Fellberg while Fellberg is not playing kart as much. These improvements were over GV3 and DP1. Swiss Champion Raphael Braun stated that he will be on vacation very soon, but left us with a few new records on VL2. This cuts down a few more points that close in on Gerard Roodhorst a bit more.

NEW MEMBERS

We have two new members to SMK this week.

Firstly for the NTSC side we have Elite E standard karter Patrick Burke joining. He has been a fan of SMK for many years and is pretty good at MC1! So far he is ranked at #47 on the NTSC Players' List.

Secondly a Karter on PAL from the UK, Richard O'Neill. Richard sent all of his times in placing him at Master G overall standard and #58 on the PAL Players' List.

THIS WEEK'S UPDATES

Jamie White made fewer World Records this week, however a famous barrier has been broken! He chose to attack VL2 for quite a while and after some close attempts he finally made it to to sub 50 seconds!! His new WR stands at 0'49"81. He didn't stop there as he also improved the lap that bit more to 0'09"23!! He also karted GV2 and played a very safe race as far as cornering is concerned, but made the jump 5/5 and almost hit a WR. We can only imagine the potential if 5/5 was hit with perfect cornering!! His SR score is now very close to -7!! How much further can one go??

The French Karters made quite an impression this week! Julien Holmière was our recent entry to the SMK site and he is already on serious fire with PRs left, right and centre! Some of the biggest cuts were on KB1, BC3, DP3, KB2 and RR. Several points were cut down and he climbed to King F reaching #30 in the World on PAL and passing several French Karters along the way to be #12 in France!! Cedric Leutwyler made a quick return with some decent cuts, the highlight of which being on BC1 helped to earn him the Elite B overall standard and #38 on the PAL Players' List! Bertrand Voireuchon also continued to fight his way through the mid Kings and after some nice cuts off BC3 and VL2 also gained a standard to King B overall!! He hopes to get back to BC3 again soon to improve it further. Archibald Lefevre finally secured his position at Legend B this week after cutting off the 5 points he needed over Mario Circuit 1 lap, DP1 both and DP3 5-lap. He will be back again soon!

Wes Kight made 7 new PRs this week to help cut further through the King B standard, one was a GOD time improvement on CI2 followed by some other Legend and King times. Darcy White made 5 new PRs, which were on DP1, MC3 and BC3 that cut off enough points for him to reach King D overall. He is also catching up to a few other karters soon! Hue Le made a small improvement on GV2 5-lap. This is still done without the platform jump, a Legend B time which is pretty good!

Andrew Kent achieved something that he wanted for a while, to pass former World Champion, Edwin Peeters. He was right behind him on SR beforehand but after some new PRs and points cut down he is now #10 in the World on PAL! It seems that Legend F will be his next target. Florian Stern made 3 new PRs. These were on VL1 5-lap and MC4 both. He managed to pass Lars Nouwen for #14 in the World on PAL and is closing in on French Karters, Franck Mazières and Sébastien Pereda.

SUPER MARIO KART UPDATED NEWS!

Sami Çetin's update, 18th July 2002

LAST UPDATE FOR A MONTH

I will be on holiday in Turkey again from Monday 22nd July. I will be away for three weeks which means that there will be no update for a while. I do advise you when sending your PRs to not leave them all till the week when I return. This is because the POW weeks still continue until then and therefore sending PRs as the days go by will help you in achieving these POWs. I will check the times by the dates when the e-mails arrive.

As the update is likely to be large, and there may be new members to enter. I will need an extra day to prepare for the update. In order to help me with this, I would like the final PRs in for that update by 18:00 GMT on Tuesday 13th August. This will give me enough time for the next update, which will be on:

THURSDAY 15TH AUGUST

THIS WEEK'S UPDATES

It was a smaller update this week with fewer active karters, so I sorted out most of the ages on the top times, then got down to the updating. There was a fierce battle oer the NTSC DP3 World Records as Simon Laflamme was the first to break 1'19" with a great new 1'18"98 time and a new lap WR! There is still potential so the battle is not yet over; Jamie White has already broken his times down to new NTSC World Records of 1'18"85 and 0'15"50!! It is great to see how far this course can go. We may even see some times down under 15"50 soon, even though Jamie's lap was more or less perfect. Other NTSC activity including Thomas Harrington with some GV2 improvements including a fast lap with the jump! The 5 points cut of placed him at #4 in the World on NTSC just ahead of Louis-Philippe Sabbagh! Hue Le also continued to kart GV2 without the jump to the platform and has made a Legend A 5-lap so far! Well done!

On PAL we see the return of Julien Patry who joined us not very long ago. This time he has driven PRs on nearly every course snatching a POW for himself! Most f his times fell between the Kings and Elites. Some were still in the Masters. He managed to climb up to Elite D overall standard and is now #41 on the PAL Players' List. Cedric Leutwyler also karted some more this week with some big cuts over BC3 and some good improvement on MC3 and MC4. He also climbed up a few ranks and even squeezed through to the ings at King G overall and #36 on the PAL Players' List! Bertrand Voireuchon continued to kart very well with 4 new PRs including a BC3 Legend E lap! He cut down a few points here. German Champion, Florian Stern hit 3 PRs helping him that bit closer towards Pereda and Mazières. He has only one Elite time left on VL2, and will beat that soon.
