I was waiting for someone to give the difinitave advice on setting up a 2000 R1. The suspention for the new r1 is enough diffrent to make the old recomended settings worthless. Lacking more skilled advice I will report my settings many people have liked the Sport Riders recomendations as a starting point. This is exatly what I run now with a few extra mods.
Ohlins steering dampener 6 from max. Shortend the wheelbase 8mm by adding a 45 tooh rear spriocket. Forks dropped by 1mm. Tire pressure to 33psi front and rear.
Front: preload 3 lines showing, rebound 6 from max compression 4 from max
Rear prelaod 6 of 9 rebound 9 out from full compression 11 from full
Most recomended mod: 180 rear to speed steering. I will try this nest spring.
Have fun and becareful with any mods- make only one mod at a time and 1 click at a time. I would get a dampener first if you already have one it is an absolute must on an R1. I have suspention links on the links page. I started with the forkes dropped by 5mm but it turned way to quick and I couldn't hold a line. I kept wanting to hit the inside curb.
If you find the pefret settings tell me!
