Introduction:
 
Russia is not only the largest country in the world, but is also a country of change.  These changes in government which affected the people of Russia was at first loud and violent, but later, was silent and deadly.  More recently, Russia has gone through another change in the way it is governed that was a radical but peaceful change.   The Russia of yesterday was called The Soviet Union.  It was a name that caused concern to many people of the free world and fear in countries that they tried to rule. 

In this treasure hunt you will find out about some of the changes that Russia went through and some of the people who important to these changes.  Your group is to research the questions in the section below that matches your group number using the resources listed.  You are then to go to the Big Question to finish the treasure hunt.

The Big Question:
Russia has gone through two great changes in the twentieth century.  How did the section that you looked up effect that change and how did all of these changes affect Russia today?  To show this information, you need to create a visual to use as you teach other students about the information that you looked up.  After all groups have presented their information, you will then need to make a visual that you can share with the class that shows the class the effect that all of these changes have had on the people of Russia today.
