Below you will find information on the topics we cover in class.  Use the information on these pages to help you review the topics.
MULTIPLYING INTEGERS

     1.   If the you have and odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, . . .) of negative factors you answer will be
           negative.

(-1) (5) (-4) (-2) =  - 40         There are an odd number (3) of negative factors;
                                                          the factors (-1), (-4), and  (-2)

2.  If the you have and even number (2, 4, 6, 8, . . .) of negative factors you answer will be
           positive

.
(-1) (5) (4) (-2) =  40         There are an even number (2) of negative factors;
                                                        the factor (-1) and  (-2)
DIVIDING INTEGERS

     1.  If both terms have the same sign the answer will be positive.

-8 / -2  =  4                       Both terms are negative

6 / 3 = 2                            Both terms are positive

     2.  If the terms have different signs the answer will be negative.

8 / -2  =  -4                      The terms have different signs

- 6 / 3 = - 2                       The terms have different signs
