Tommy Brolsma,
Car #35
Speedway, IN.
Years in Sim Racing:
many.
Racing Philosophy:
Go fast, have fun, and hope to not see the view of "ground,
sky, ground, sky, ground, sky
."
Sim Background:
Tommy first started racing "sims" on his Commodore
64 as a kid in the 80's on old games like "Pitstop II"
and "Revs." Then, when his family bought a PC, he started
racing Indy 500. He would set the race to 10 laps, no qualifying,
and try to win the race. He did a few times! He bought the NASCAR
game and a steering wheel in college, and was hooked from then
on! He has raced all of the NASCAR series games, as well as SODA
Off-road, Grand Prix 2, and Grand Prix Legends. Tommy joined
the TPTCC in 1998 for his first league experience and was picked
up by French team Chapaz Racing (driving Peugeots) in the Group
B division. Tommy won some races, then the title in his rookie
year (the team won the championship, too). In 1999 he joined
Sean Staples and Terry Vreeland on SS Motorsports and won his
first Group A race at Felton Park in the Winter Tour, but struggled
the rest of the year. He took the 1999-2000 Winter Tour off to
move and get married, but now he's back in the TPTCC! Also, in
2000 Tommy won SneakerWorx's first race as a team at the IWSC's
Desert Winds race, and in 2001 won a ITCC (new TPTCC off-line series) race
at Imola.
Background:
Tommy grew up in motorsports as a nephew to a racecar driver
(Larry Brolsma) and son of a car owner (Tom Brolsma, former co-owner
of Brolsma Motorsports, a NASCAR Busch Grand National Team, '87-'91).
He worked on the crew and was a fan until he went to college
in 1993. That's where he was exposed to sprint car racing for
the first time. At first he was just a fan, but in 1998 he started
covering Central PA sprint car racing for Hoseheads.com. In 1999
he moved to the motorsports capital of the world, Indianapolis,
IN to advance his career in motorsports journalism where he continues
to write and take pictures for Hoseheads.com. He has also raced
Radio Controlled Cars for 14 years, and is a former sponsored
driver and track champion. |
