Payback

Jean sat in the living room drinking a cup of tea. She hoped that it calming effects would help her calm down. She loved Scott, she really did but if he pulled his high and mighty, goody two shoes routine on her one more time today she was going to kill him. She debating on what could be done when she noticed the weather suddenly change from sunny skies to thunderclouds overhead. /I wonder what's getting to Storm. Must be pretty bad to make her loose control like that. /

She didn't have to wonder for long. Storm walked into the room and plopped down on the couch, glaring. She was clearly still angry but at least she had gained some measure of control. The skies cleared up outside.

"What's wrong Storm?"

Storm jumped. "Jean, I didn't notice you there. You startled me. As for what is wrong it is your fiancé. He's under the impression that I am his little girl and he is my father. He thinks that he can just come and tell me what to do. He's butting in again and I told him to but out. It's my life and I will do what I want with it."

"You don't have to tell me. He pulled the same crap on me this morning. You would think that he would learn but he doesn't."

"How do you deal with it on a daily basis? It makes no sense for someone to be that much of a pain in the ass when it comes to letting people live their lives."

Just then they heard Logan out in the hallway. "Look One Eye, layoff me. I'm probably old enough to be your father. So don't go telling me what I can or can't do. Now if you don't get off my back right now," SNICKT, "you and Jean won't be having any children."

Logan stormed into the room and stopped when he saw two equally angry women in the room.

"Did he get to ya too?" asked Logan as he took a seat on the couch next to Storm.

"Yes." They said simultaneously.

"What I wouldn't give to rankle him for once. I'm getting sick of pansy boy getting on my nerves. No offense Red."

"None taken. But you do have a point. I would love to get back at him for all the trouble he's caused us."

"Is it just me or does it seem that he's gotten worse about it lately. Jean you know him better than us. What could be done to rankle him the most?"

"Yeah Jean help us out before I have to castrate him."

"I have an idea but it would involve the both of you working together."

"Please, enlighten us."

"Well the only thing that I can think of that would really get Scott's goat the most would be seeing the two of you dating each other."

"What the hell are ya talkin about Red?"

"Well the two of us have been seeing a lot of each other lately. I guess that would make Scott worry about me. He thinks that you could have an undesirable effect on me. As a matter of fact that was what we were arguing about before I came in here."

"And that was part of the reason why I came in here to cool off. In addition to some other things, he was trying to persuade me to talk to Storm and find out what was going on. So if you want to give him a taste of his own medicine I suggest that the two of you "date" each other. It will irritate Scott to no end."

"I don't think so Red."

"Come on Logan." Storm scooted closer to Logan on the couch and draped her arm over his shoulder. "Are you afraid of little old me?"

Logan smiled. "Me. Afraid of you." He put his arm around her waist and pulled he closer. "It's you who should be afraid of me."

Just then Scott walked into the room. He was about to say something to Jean when he noticed Storm and Logan sitting too close for his comfort on the couch. /What the hell. /

"Don't start Scott. I've had all I can take from you today. Just save it."

"Don't worry about it Red. I was just leaving." Then, just to egg Cyke on a little more, he turned Storm's face back towards his and kissed her on the lips. The kiss was long and deep. When Logan came back up he glanced at Cyclops and had to fight hard not to laugh at him. He looked pissed. "See ya later Storm."

Logan strode out of the room with Cyclops following him. He barely got two words out of his mouth before Logan popped his claws and looked over his shoulder. "Save it Scotty-boy before ya loose somethin vital." Scott took the hint and stopped where he was.

Back in the room Storm was slowly recovering from the kiss Logan had planted on her. She had thought that agreeing to this would be simple because they were just friends but now she wasn't so sure. Maybe they should call this off. She felt someone watching her and looked up to catch Jean watching her.

"That good huh. I don't think I've ever seen you for a loss of words before."

"Hopefully it will be the last time you see it too. I'm beginning to think that this plan might work better than expected." /If it doesn't kill me first. /

Everyone was surprised at the sudden turn in events between Storm and Logan. It was common knowledge that Logan had a crush on Jean. So when he suddenly put all his attention on Storm everyone was surprised. Everybody was happy for them nonetheless, although a few of the men were a little jealous. Everyone that is except for Scott.

It seemed as if every chance he got he would try to break them apart. He concentrated his efforts on Storm though because after the last time he had tried to talk to Logan he almost lost his hand. Every chance he got he would try to talk some sense into her but she wasn't hearing it.

Logan, Storm, and Jean loved it. They had never seen Scott look so frustrated. Sure they hadn't thought so about a week ago when his lectures had been almost daily but they could see that he was giving up.

Every chance that he got Logan made sure that he rubbed his nose in it too. He made sure to kiss Storm a little more passionately, give her little gifts like flowers, candy, or jewelry, whenever he sensed that Scott was near. He even went so far as to make sure that he and Storm 'ran' into him at certain outings. In his opinion life couldn't be better.

Storm was in hell. She didn't know how much longer she could hold up the pretense. Logan's kisses were driving her wild. She couldn't remember the last time that she had gone to sleep without him appearing in her dreams. And the gifts. She hadn't pegged Logan as the romantic type but he was showing her a side of himself that she was sure that no one, not even Jean, had seen. She didn't know how she felt about him anymore. All she did know was that if this charade didn't end soon she'd be in big trouble.

"Alright girls, as much fun as this has been I think we should take mercy on ole Scotty boy and let him in on the secret." Logan, Jean, and Storm sat in the room where everything had started 3 weeks ago. "Personally I like to see the boy suffer but I think that he might get an ulcer if we don't tell him soon."

"I think that you're right. Scott's been getting kind of restless the past couple of days. When did you want to tell him?"

"There's no time like the present. Where is he anyway?"

"He's on his way down here. I just called him."

"Good. I'm thirsty. I think I'll go get a beer. You want anything Red? Storm?"

Both women shook their heads no and Logan left the room. Jean was looking at Storm. She noticed that her friend looked a little troubled and wanted to find out what was wrong. She got up and sat down next to her. "What's wrong? You haven't been yourself the past couple of days. What's bothering you?"

"Oh Jean. I think that this whole idea was a mistake. I know that Scott deserved it but good lord. If I had known before hand what emotional effect it would have on me I would never have done it."

"What are you saying?"

"I. I think that I'm in love with Logan."

"Oh dear. When? Why?"

"Slowly over the past the 3 weeks. He is a much different person around me than he is around anyone else. I know that most of the stuff that we did was to irritate Scott but he went above and beyond the call of duty just to get back at Scott. I just don't know if he feels anything for me. Everyone knows that he has a thing for you."

"I don't know what to say. I."

"What did you need Jean?"

"We have something that we wanted to tell you Scott."

"One eye, glad you could make it." Logan walked back into the room with a couple of drinks. "I figured that I'd grab you ladies somethin to drink anyway." He put the drinks down and sat on the lazy-boy across from Scott."

"I'm glad you're here Logan." An eyebrow went up at that comment. "I have something that I want to say to all 3 of you. I know that I haven't been the best person to talk to the past couple of weeks and I apologize for it. I only had the best intentions for all of you but I realize that I wasn't being very smart about it. I can also see that you two are good for each other so I want to apologize for all the grief that I gave you, all of you, and I promise to keep my opinion to myself from now on.

The women just stared at him and Logan's jaw practically hit the floor. /What the hell? / was the first thought that went through everyone's mind. Slowly everyone recovered, but Jean was the first one to speak. "Thank you Scott. You have no idea how much we appreciate that."

"Good. Now what did you want to tell me?"

Jean spared a quick glance at the others. Storm was silent and Logan just shrugged. "We just wanted to talk about the situation with you that's all. Come on Scott, let's go to lunch. Would you two like to join us?"

"Thanks Red but no. I have somewhere I have to be in about thirty minutes. You two have fun."

"And I have a class to teach in a few minutes. Maybe later."

"Okay. We'll see you guys later then."

They walked out of the room leaving Logan and Storm alone. Logan got up from his chair and stood before Storm. He offered her his hand and he helped her up from the couch. "That was definitely a strange turn of events."

"Yes it was. I would never have expected him to have apologized."

"Neither would I. Well Storm, it was fun while it lasted. I hope I didn't bother you too much."

"No, no. You were the perfect gentleman."

He smiled at that. "I wouldn't know about all that, but thanks for the compliment. I'll see you later." Then he lifted her hand up to his lips and kissed it. Then he walked out the door.

Storm sat there for the longest time her mind in turmoil. She had a long internal debate with herself before she finally made up her mind. She wanted him of that she was sure. Now she just had to figure out a way to grab his attention. That kiss on her hand must mean something because he'd never done it before. So she would have to make him see what he was too blind not too. For that she was going to need some very powerful weapons.

**********

Logan pulled Scott's bike into the garage and parked it in the corner. He'd gone out to a couple of bars to relieve some tension. It hadn't hit him until Scott's apology that he was actually going to miss spending all that time with Storm. Sure he had started doing all those things for her with the intention of bugging Scott but after a while he'd started to enjoy doing those things for Storm. But there was no way that Storm was going to take him seriously. After all the drooling he'd done over Jean there was no way that she would think that he'd gotten over her that quickly. Until he could figure out a way to prove to her other wise he'd have keep his hands to himself. He was so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he didn't notice that something odd about his room until he'd gotten half way through taking off his flannel shirt.

/What the hell. / There were candles strategically placed throughout the room. To his left he saw a big brightly wrapped package. As he moved closer he saw a note attached to it. It read,

To the hopes of a continuing future.

Storm

/Looks like things are getting interesting. / He put down the note and opened the package. Inside was the most beautiful leather jacket that he had ever seen along with a matching pair of gloves. Just when he thought that it couldn't get any better he finally noticed the rose petals leading into his bathroom and from the lighting it looked as if more candles had been put inside. /A bubble bath. She's gotta be crazy if she thinks that I'd be / His thoughts trailed off as he crossed the threshold of the bathroom. Sure enough there his tub was filled with bubbles, waiting for him. There was also a very beautiful, very tempting, and very naked Storm soaking in the suds. His eyes widened, and his body stiffened at the sight. /I must be drunker than I originally thought. If this is a dream don't let me wake up. /

"Hello Logan. Would you like some champagne? Please make yourself comfortable and join me."

It took a while for Logan to realize that she had spoken and a little longer to find his voice. "Yeah, sure. Just give me a second." He walked back into his room and when he was sure that she could see him he did a little jig. /Thank you, thank you, thank you. / Then he rapidly began to strip himself, his clothes flying all over the place. As his jeans landed on the bed he noticed something peach in color on the bed. /Peach? I don't own anythin that color. / He walked over to the bed and picked up the cloth. It was a mostly lace and satin teddy. /Good lord she's trying to kill me. /

"Logan, are you coming." The most feral grin spread slowly spread over his features. /If you're gonna die, I can't think of a better way to go. / "Yeah Storm, I'm on my way."

**********

Jean woke up the next morning, and went out in search of her friend. She had looked bad after their conversation and she wanted to see if she wanted to talk, or see if there was a way that she could help her. She'd wanted to do it last night but Scott had kept her ratherdistracted and she hadn't gotten around to it. She knocked on the door, but got no answer. "Storm?" she called as she opened the door. She wasn't there. Her bed looked as if it hadn't been slept in all night. She tried some of the girls' rooms but none of them had seen her since yesterday. The look on her face concerned some of the older one's enough that they offered to help her look but she just thanked them and told them that everything was all right. /Maybe I should try Logan's room?/

**********

Storm woke up slowly and smiled. She was curled up against Logan's body, her face on his chest and her hand over his heart. Last night had worked out wonderfully. While he hadn't said the words, he'd shown her without words what he felt. They'd kept each other up throughout the night. Wellmostly it was her. Her smile grew wider. He was good at what he did. Jean didn't know what she was missing. Even now she wanted him again but she decided to let him sleep a little longer and she watched him sleep. He looked peaceful when he slept. Nothing like the man he was when he was awake. And he was in great shape, mutant powers not withstanding. She shifted so that she was propped up on one elbow and ran her hand up and down his chest. As she did so her thoughts began to wander back to last night. /He can sleep later. /

Logan woke up slowly feeling a little tired but extremely satisfied. If he'd known that Storm would turn out to be such a tigress in bed he might done something with her sooner. This was one of the rare times that he regretted having a mutant-healing factor because he wouldn't have any battle scars to admire later. He hadn't managed to get much sleep last night. Just when he thought that she'd finally had enough she'd wake him up. Not that he was complaining. He gradually became aware of the fact that her hand was slowly making its way down his chest. And it wasn't stopping either. He caught her hand before it could go any lower and looked her in the eye. "Woman didn't you get enough last night?" he asked mock seriously. Already his body was responding to her presence.

She smiled at him. "Last night was only the beginning. Besides I can't help it that you're good at what you do."

That comment earned her an answering grin from him. "Maybe not but we should really put in an appearance sometime soon before someone comes looking for you."

"I'm not leaving anytime soon," she said as she licked her lips, "and neither are you."

Her hand broke away from his and continued on its journey downward. She stroked the length of him and smiled as she saw his head go back against the pillows. She moved underneath the blankets and replaced her hand with her mouth. She heard Logan gasp as she moved her mouth over him.

Knock. Knock.

Logan growled low in his throat at the intrusion, but 'Ro kept going. "What!"

"Logan it's me Jean, can I come in?"

Logan's back arched and his hands fisted in the sheets as Ororo did something particularly wicked with her tongue. As he came back to his senses a little, he glared at the top of her head. "Jean's at the door," he whispered harshly.

"Yes, I know."

"You have to stop."

"Why?"

"I have to answer the door."

"Jean will be perfectly fine outside." She moved up his body and straddled his hips. "She's probably just looking for me." She guided him to her and slowly took him inside of her. "Just tell her I'm alright and that I'll talk to her later."

He only half heard what she said. The feel of being inside of her cut off all rational thought.

"Logan?"

/Oh Shit. / He snapped back at the sound of her voice. /Dammit, she's still here? / Jean was really begging for death right now.

Ororo for her part was partially enjoying the rapid in and out of Logan. She was amazed that he was still capable of rational thought at this point. She would have found more humor in the situation if it weren't for the fact that she wanted his undivided attention.

"I'm kind'a in the middle of something could you come back?"

"It's kind of important. I need to talk to you about 'Ro."

'Ro had begun to move against him in an agonizingly torturous pace so Logan had to grit his teeth to be able to answer her.

"She's okay don't worry about her."

"Are you sure? Yesterday she..."

"Yes dammit I'm sure. She's absolutely great."

Jean was about to say something else when she was hit by an intense wave of feelings of the occupants of the room. She smiled and walked off to go look for Scott.

**********

As they lay against each other panting Logan turned his head to speak. "'Ro, you are an extremely cruel woman."

"Yes, I know."

"Do you think we should tell her?"

"She's a smart girl. She'll figure it out."
