Ok, the last review I did was a little dull, but give me a break! I was an SNL review virgin. Now that I’m a seasoned veteran, I’ve decided to add a few little touches for maximum reading pleasure. 1) a rating scale- each sketch can earn up to 10 points, you know the drill on this-1 is completely awful, 10 is comic perfection. At the end, I will calculate the maximum amount of points the show can earn (this depends on how many sketches are in the show) and then add up the points given to each sketch, and the overall score will be shown as something like this: 97/110, hope you got that. 2) Pre and Post show thoughts 3) What I’d like to see next week-this is where I talk about my favorite recurring characters and how I hope they end up in the next show.

Pre-show thoughts- I hope this week is funnier than last weeks less than stellar episode. But, I’m not setting my hopes to high, I think they’re still trying to figure things out, with Will and Ana gone, 70% of their material is gone. I hear that Chris Parnell is doing Bush in the cold opening, I’m really glad they found a replacement, but I don’t know if Chris can handle it. I’m soooo nervous.

Cold Opening-Address from the President- I’d like to start off by saying that Chris Parnell did a great job with President Bush, while his isn’t as funny as Will Farrell’s, its more of a dead on impression. He’s got the voice and gestures down, he could work on using his eyebrows more, like the real George W. but other than that-nice job. I like the “cops” references, and the fact that W. knew what time it came on. I also liked “You can cooperate, or we can lay the hurt on you Texas style-that’s a regular ass whoopin that’s been supersized!” This was classic, and as a resident of Texas, I can back the president up on that statement. This was a very solid opening, and I think everyone’s relieved that we finally get to see who’s playing Bush. 9/10

Monologue- This was a really lame monologue, the vampire joke was stupid, even if Sarah Michelle Gellar does play a vampire slayer, the joke was still weak. Uhh, not much else to say. 4/10

Commercial: Swiffer Pj’s- This one was worth a few mild chuckles. Not terrible but fairly forgettable. Although I did like: “Not recommended for children with allergies” that was a good line. 6/10

Safety Day- This sketch was really disappointing, and hardly worthy of such an early time slot. I guess the general idea was pretty funny, and I can appreciate the joke, because I too have had to sit through not so intentionally funny drug and violence prevention programs. But, I think this is one of the many sketches that could have been great had Will Farrell been in it. It wasn’t a good sketch, but it had some good jokes- “tea baggining” and poking holes in the condoms (if you absolutely must use them). 5/10

Singing Dentist- Jeez! Not another lame sketch! I hated this when they did it last season with Derek Jeter. I think Chris Kattan is getting progressively worse-Bring back the Mango!! I guess the highlight of this pathetic excuse for sketch comedy was when he bumped Sarah Michelle Gellar’s arm while she was cleaning the guy’s teeth-that was pretty funny. 4/10

Trans American Commercial- This was the first really funny thing since the opening. And even though it was done in a tongue-in-cheek manner, its only common sense. If airport security officials would concentrate on people who look like they could be an actual threat, and stop strip searching old ladies carrying nail files, then I think we’d be a lot better off. This was brilliant. “…and by the way, you can bring your tweezers.” 7/10

Corona Commercial #1- I never liked those corona commercials, so I’m glad they did a parody. Jimmy Fallon was really funny as the drunk idiot. “Miles away from sober” 6/10

Sadam Hussein- I will say it again: I would have been funnier if Will Farrell was in it. It was pretty funny, and the concept was good: Sadam Hussein sends out his look-a likes to run errands for him so they will be shot. Why? Because he’s and asshole. And, even though it’s a really old joke, I liked it when Jimmy Fallon said “English, gay it’s a fine line!” 6/10

Corona #2- I think this one was even funnier than the first, although I think that instead of saying “Miles away from sober” again they should have said “Even further from sober” but no one asked me. 7/10

Weekend Update- Freaking awesome!!!! (as usual) This one was even better than last weeks. The Justin Guarini record deal joke was so funny, and sadly true. The cheap shot at Tammy Fay Baker was deserved and very funny. I liked Seth Meyer’s impression of Steve, the Dell computer guy, and it made me think: Steve could be a seriously disturbed young man; after all, he does smile way too much. Great joke! Next came the best joke of the night (said of course by the amazingly funny Tina Fey) “Did everyone see the new Christina Aguilera Video? I think it gave my TV genital warts.” Way to go Tina! Every self respecting girl in America was glad to hear that joke. Other highlights included: The hilarious speech that Tina gave about Leonard Nemoy standing up to the all-powerful and oppressive “Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle” those bastards deserved to be taken down!(haha jk, I have nothing against Jewish people) This was followed by a particularly ingenious zinger delivered by the great Jimmy Fallon- I forgot to get the quote, but it was something about Michael Jackson, Sigfried & Roy and a tiger. The question is, is the orgy over or is it just beginning? Finally came the Ramada sisters, cheap versions of those annoying Hilton sluts. Funny stuff. Great Update!!! 9.5/10

Making the Video “Dirty”- After seeing this sketch, I wished that I had actually watched the “Making the video: “Dirty” that way I could have fully appreciated this sketch, but I have seen the video(which is so wretched, it makes me want to laugh and puke at the same time) so I wasn’t completely in the dark. I’m so glad other people noticed how completely disgusting this video actually is, what with all the dirty, sweaty people humping in a warehouse. Jimmy Fallon was really funny as that director, and I liked how all the people kept having to be made even dirtier. “It ain’t dir-ee enough!” I was so glad to see this sketch. 8/10

Bladder Control With Arliss- This was great! They managed to parody bladder control products and make fun of a crappy sitcom all in one sketch! It was a really original idea-mad props to whoever wrote this one. 9/10

Tracy Morgan Acting Horny- This is getting old. As my Uncle David pointed out, Tracy is always playing the horny black dude who likes to get high. Branch out some! 3/10

Maya Rudolph & Tracy Morgan Saying Sexy Stuff- This was totally and completely pointless. 4/10

Corona #3- Even drunker-still funny. 6/10

The American People Have Spoken- This was really funny. It does seem that if something goes wrong, we blame it on Sadam. I mean hey, even if it isn’t his fault, he still deserves to be blamed. “Sadam, America is pissed off, maybe not at you, but you’ll do.” 7/10

Sexual Harassment- This was actually funnier than some of the stuff at the very beginning of the show. I liked when Sarah Michelle Gellar was trying to prove a point and “Merv the Perv” would just say some stupid little joke, that was mildly funny. 6/10

Out of a possible 170, this show earned: 106.5

Post-Show Thoughts- Unlike last weeks show, which was all around mediocre. This week there were some really funny sketches, and a lot of really bad ones. Sarah Michelle Gellar was decent I guess, but she didn’t do anything that really stood out. I hit the mute button while Faith Hill preformed, but from the looks of it, it was nothing special. The weekend update was outstanding. I hope next weeks show is a major improvement.

What I’d Like to See Next Week- Well, next week’s host is going to be John McCain, and as we all know from past episodes hosted by politicians (Steve Forbes in ’96) there is a lot of potential for total suckyness. However, I’m sure there will be an awesome political sketch. I’m also hoping to see a Wake up Wakefield. I’m  sooooooo stoked about the musical guest next week-The White Stripes. They freaking rock! I’m really looking forward to that.

Well, if you’re reading this, congratulations! You’ve made it through this ridiculously long review, if you happen to disagree with my about something you can email me at blinkgrl@wt.net. Don’t be too mean!
