9 - 11 Remembered One year ago today, it was, ..America at rest... An attack by cowards in New York, ..brought out our very best! The towers standing tall and strong, ..came crashing to the ground... The shock was felt around the world, ..it made a terrible sound! Heroes stood and many fell, ..and our America cried... But our people were ready to take revenge, ..before those tears were dried! We wrote it down in papers and books, ..shadowed black and white parts... But it's written forever, in another place, ..on the contours of our hearts! Now time has passed and some have paid, ..for the toll of death they brought... While Lady Liberty reminds us still, ..our freedom by blood was bought! So, yes, we hurt...our hearts still cry, ..but our strength we just renew... Remember you cowards...with blood-stained hands, ..we're still not through with you! © C.E.Dale Manning,2003 Gideon, Missouri |
