Bill Johnson

After watching Bill's interview on TV during the 2002 Winter Olympics I was inspired to create this Tribute page to Bill Johnson, not only for his mark in History but for his heart and strong will. After all he has been through, all he has faced he keeps his determintaion, not choosing to give up. What an inspiration he is to me as well as he should be to all. I hope this page brings many smiles to you and your family as your friends and fans share their support.

An American Legend and Hero

In 1984 at the Winter Olympics held in Sarajevo, Bill Johnson took home the Gold Medal in the Men's Downhill with the time of 1:45:59. This marked a great day in American History as it was the first time an American skier would win the Gold in downhill skiing. After that Bill Johnson went on to win not one but two World Cup Championships in the exact same year at Aspen and Whistler (British Columbia) and I don't believe that has ever been done by another American either. Bill Johnson was once known as the best there was and still deserves to be treated as the best.

In 2001 Bill was working on making his come back trying to earn a spot on the USA Ski Team; for the 2002 winter games but a tragic accident took that away. On March 22, 2001 Bill crashed on the slopes at Montana's Big Mountain resort leaving him in a coma for weeks and fighting for his life. That very accident has robbed him of so many things including the memory of being a Champion. He knows he is one by what others tell him but in his own mind it never happened. But today as I have read from other resources Bill is getting stronger everyday in (body and mind) and very much on the road to recovery.
