Elizabeth was raped on the night of the school Valentine's Day dance. Lucky became a pillar of support for Liz in her time of need. After Lucky told Liz that Luke had once raped Laura, the bond between them became stronger. Lucky left home and stayed at Liz's house before getting a place of his own. Emily Quartermaine turned to Liz, Lucky and Nikolas for help when someone started blackmailing her with altered photos in which Emily appeared to be nude. In the process, the friendship between Liz and Emily deepened and Lucky and Nikolas put aside their differences. As it turned out, a photographer named Tom was the person blackmailing Emily. When Liz and Emily realized this, Tom held them at gunpoint and locked then in the darkroom at the photography studio. In the process, Tom also admitted that he had been the person who had raped Liz in the park. Lucky and Nikolas rescued Emily and Liz and Tom was arrested. Liz and Lucky were more in love then ever and agreed to go steady. Liz and Lucky set their sights on a future together and Liz was surprised when Lucky suggested she attend an art school in New York City. Liz was hesitant, until Lucky promised that he would go to New York with her. Lucky surprised Liz when he bought her a new dress and hinted at a big Valentine's Day surprise. When Valentine's Day arrived, Lucky took Liz to a romantic empty church and they vowed to love each other forever. Liz was devastated when she thought Lucky had been killed in the fire. In time, Liz allowed herself to be comforted by Emily and Nikolas, but wondered how she would continue to live without Lucky. Liz found herself overcome with grief for Lucky and needed to take action to try and reclaim her life. One night, Liz went to Jake's looking for trouble and she found it in the form of a male patron who wouldn't take no for an answer. Jason came to Liz's rescue and she ended up confiding her troubles to him. Jason also found it easy to talk to Liz and both were comfortable with their easy rapport. Liz came to Jason's aid after he was shot by Moreno and took Jason to her studio. Jason refused to let Liz contact either the police or Sonny, but Liz took matters into her own hands and arranged for Bobbie to treat Jason's wound. Liz convinced Jason to stay at her studio with her and he eventually made a full recovery. In the process, Liz and Jason became very close friends. Liz almost fell victim to Sorel's violence after a bomb was placed in her studio. Jason rescued Liz as Roy defused the bomb, but Jason realized his friendship with Liz was placing her in danger. Soon thereafter, Liz was crushed when Jason left Port Charles. Liz had come to grips with the pain over losing Lucky and was shocked when Nikolas told her that Lucky was actually alive. With Laura's blessing, Liz and Nikolas set off for New York City to search for Lucky. Lucky saw Liz and Nikolas in New York City, but didn't make his presence known. At the end of April, Liz came face to face with Lucky for the first time back in Port Charles. Liz was overjoyed when she saw Lucky, but he wasn't the same person he was before the fire. Every time Liz reached out to Lucky, he would push her away and claim that things had changed. Liz still felt in her heart that Lucky still loved her and was baffled by his behavior. Liz and Lucky even shared a kiss at the boxcar, until Lucky suddenly pulled away again. Liz was later stunned when Lucky suggested that she and Nikolas should become a couple. Liz, Lucky and Nikolas teamed up over the summer and came to Emily's rescue when she was blackmailed. Liz and Lucky were able to connect on several occasions but Lucky would always end up pushing Liz away again. By the end of the summer, Lucky realized something was wrong with his mind, but still didn't know that Helena had brainwashed him, A short time later, Liz witnessed Helena using her trigger phrase on Lucky and realized he was under her spell. Lucky then started seeing Kevin Collins in an effort to erase the hold Helena had over him. With Lucky seemingly out from under Helena's spell, he and Liz were free to express their real feelings for one another. Lucky told Liz that he loved her and suggested taking a trip to New York City. While in New York, Liz and Lucky came close to making love, but decided the time wasn't right -- yet! Elizabeth and Lucky continued their relationship and even almost got married. When Elizabeth's sister, Sarah came back into town, she and Lucky took a liking to each other. But when Elizabeth found out about their relationship, she felt devastated and betrayed. Luckily Jason was back in town and she found comfort in her old friend, but eventually their friendship dissipated. Liz and Ric Lansing developed a relationship when Liz was working at Kelly's where he was living. They ultimately fell in love with each other, but she was disappointed when she found out he was Sonny's brother and out to get revenge on him. Elizabeth was ecstatic when she found out she was pregnant with Ric's baby. Unfortunately their happiness was short lived when Faith (framing Sonny) pushed Elizabeth down a flight of stairs causing her to lose her baby. Elizabeth was devastated, but wanted to quickly start trying to get pregnant again. But what she didn't know was that the house Ric had purchased for the two of them had a panic room in it. Ric had gone off the deep end when he was led to believe that Sonny was responsible for Elizabeth losing their baby. He kidnapped pregnant Carly and planned to steal her and Sonny's baby when it was born. Ric found himself in a bind when Elizabeth wanted to start trying to have another baby. He began slipping her birth control pills and even hired a fertility specialist to tell her she could no longer conceive. When Elizabeth finally found Carly in the panic room, she was so overcome with surprise that she collapsed from an embolism due to Ric's mishandling of her birth control dosage. She survived but was sad to learn her husband would do something so crazy. Ric briefly changed his ways when Alcazar set Carly free and kidnapped her for himself, Ric offered to help Sonny and Jason find her. Even though she was angry with him, Elizabeth feared for Ric's life, but knew that she could not stay with him after he lied to her about what he had done to Carly. Elizabeth was hit by a car and suffered temporary blindness. Ric desperately wanted to help her, but she continued to push him away. Ultimately she got her sight back and again found herself unable to stay away from Ric. She decided to sleep with Zander Smith hoping Ric would be repulsed and would not want to be with her anymore. But when Elizabeth found out she was pregnant again, they decided to give their relationship another whirl and they got married. When Elizabeth discovered Zander was the father of her baby, she panicked. But eventually Ric found out the truth and confronted Elizabeth. He surprised her when he told her he still wanted to raise the baby with her and they should ask Zander to give up his paternal rights. But Zander refused and instead blackmailed Ric into framing Nikolas for murder. Zander led everyone to believe he had died in the Port Charles Hotel fire. But when Ric, Elizabeth, Nikolas, and Emily all received posthumous notes from Zander blaming each person's respective partners for his murder, they all knew there was another murderer. When Elizabeth admitted to knocking Zander out before the fire, Ric would not let her take the fall, so he helped her cover it up. Elizabeth was in for the surprise of her life when she saw that Zander was in fact still alive and had kidnapped Emily! She called the cops and Zander ended up being killed for real this time. Ric still couldn't let go of his vendetta against Sonny, so Elizabeth finally broke up with him for good and left town to have her baby. When she had her baby boy, Elizabeth's grandmother Audrey called Ric to let him know she had given birth to a boy. Recently, Elizabeth came back to Port Charles with her new son, Cameron, named after Zander's father, Cameron Lewis. She has been giving support to her best friend Emily who has been heartbroken over Nikolas. Elizabeth is currently living and engaged to Lucky Spencer. She is also being to surragate mother to Jasper Jacks and Courtney Matthews. Her and Lucky are having both financial problems from Luckys medical bils and emotional problems from her being a surragate mother.
