To that effect, Kelly grew up in boarding schools. Rebellious by nature, Kelly was kicked out of her elite European school as a teenager and was sent to live with her Aunt Dorian in Llanview. Kelly was immediately smitten with her aunt's husband David Vickers. She made many attempts to seduce him, and David almost gave in-but they were caught by Dorian. Soon after, Kelly met Joey Buchanan and despite initial animosity between the two, an attraction was born. However, Kelly discovered Dorian and Joey in bed and ran straight to David. David wanted to seduce Kelly as part of a revenge plan against Dorian. When Kelly refused his aggressive seduction, she hit David over the head in a panic and believed that she killed him. She went to Joey and told him what happened. Joey attempted to help Kelly cover the crime, but soon a very much alive David showed up and kidnapped Kelly. Joey rescued her and soon the two were in love. After familial animosities began to plague their relationship, the two young lovers decided to study abroad in Paris. Joey left, but Kelly decided to stay in Llanview while her cousin Blair's daughter Starr was suffering from aplastic anemia. Dorian and Drew Buchanan (who was interested in Kelly) saw the couples' long distance as the perfect opportunity to split the two up. Thanks to Drew and Dorian, miscommunications and lost messages were frequent, and Joey eventually broke up with Kelly. A distraught Kelly ended up in a car accident with Blair and Patrick Thornhart. Shocked at having hit her cousin, Kelly called the police and fled the scene. As a result of the accident Blair miscarried her child. Kelly confessed her guilt to Drew, who helped her to cover her role in the accident. Kelly and Drew grew closer and began dating. Eventually guilt got the better of Kelly and she confessed her role in the accident to Blair, who vowed never to forgive her. Kelly also learned of Drew and Dorian's role in her breakup with Joey. Disgusted, she ended it with Drew. Kelly met wealthy Ian Armitage and the two grew close. However, Blair wanted Ian for his money and clashed with her cousin over Ian. After some initial hesitations, Kelly began to date Ian. However, Joey soon returned from Paris. All her old feelings towards Joey complicated things, but Kelly remained committed to Ian, whom she planned to marry. Soon after Ian was killed in a plane crash. His will left a large sum to Kelly, but Blair intercepted this information and impersonated Kelly in an attempt to get the money. Her conscience got the best of her, and Blair ended her scheme. The two cousins soon reconciled and Kelly became a wealthy woman. Despite a kiss with Joey, Kelly was not ready to get romantically involved with him again. Drew returned to town and managed to convince Kelly that he was truly remorseful for his previous deceptions. When Drew was a suspect in the murder of Georgie Phillips, Kelly stood by him and the two became a couple again. Drew was cleared and planned to marry Kelly, but was killed by a bullet meant for Kevin Buchanan. Fighting her feelings for Joey, Kelly allowed herself to be the target of money hungry Max Holden. Falling for Max's charm, the two became engaged but Kelly's love for Joey was too strong---she broke up with Max and reunited with Joey. Joey and Kelly got engaged, but their relationship encountered trouble when Kelly found herself drawn to his brother Kevin. The two grew close and almost made love. In an effort to fight her true feelings and show her commitment to Joey, the two eloped. Still, Kelly was drawn to Kevin and despite an attempt to have a baby to save her marriage, Kelly soon blurted to Joey that she loved Kevin. The two decided to end their marriage, but Joey did everything in his power to stall the divorce. Kevin and Kelly began seeing each other. Kelly saw the hit man who had attempted to kill Ben Davidson and was forced to go into hiding for fear of her life. Kevin and Joey worked together to protect Kelly, and Joey finally realized that Kevin and Kelly were in love. Joey signed the divorce papers, and Kelly was free to marry Kevin. The two moved to Texas and eventually wed. While in Texas, Kevin's political aspirations led to distance between the couple. Kelly had an affair which caused problems with Kevin. Kevin returned to Llanview and Kelly followed a few months later, unhappy that Kevin had gotten close with her cousin Blair in the interim. Problems in their marriage continued to persist, and Kelly was heartbroken when she learned Kevin and Blair had slept together. Both hurt by their respective affairs, Kevin and Kelly decided to forgive each other and work things out. Kelly fully supported Kevin in his departure from politics, and was ecstatic to find out she was pregnant. Both eagerly awaited the birth of their baby, and Kelly was convinced that her pregnancy helped save her marriage. Unfortunately, Kelly had a miscarriage. She was certain Kevin would leave her without a baby, and turned to her brother Paul for help. She begged Paul, a Medevac pilot, to help her get a baby. Shortly after, opportunity presented itself when Paul's ex-wife Babe Chandler called him, begging for help. Babe was in a remote cabin and had begun labor, and needed Paul's help delivering the baby. Paul arrived just in time to deliver Babe's baby, as Kelly's request echoed through his head. Paul drugged Babe and brought her newborn son to Kelly, claiming that a homeless woman voluntarily gave up the child. Kelly believed Paul, and beside herself with joy, told Kevin that she had given birth in a rural farmhouse. Kevin fell in love with his newborn son and named him Ace. Meanwhile, to cover his tracks with Babe's child, Paul stole Bianca Montgomery's newborn daughter and gave it to Babe, while everyone believed Bianca's daughter had died. Todd Manning, Kevin's long time rival, learned the truth about Kelly's baby, but promised he would keep her secret. Kevin and Kelly were happy, but Kelly was constantly worried the truth would come out about Ace. Paul began blackmailing her for money, threatening to expose the truth about Ace's origins to Kevin. A drugged Kelly and Paul had a turbulent fight in a hotel room in Atlantic City, and Kelly woke up to find Paul dead. She was convinced that she killed him, and called Todd for help. Todd helped Kelly bury Paul in a landfill and both conspired to keep the secret. Kevin noticed their hushed conversations and quickly grew suspicious. As it turned out, David was responsible for knocking Paul out, and panicked when he thought he'd killed Paul. When Paul turned up alive, he was furious that his own sister left him for dead. Angry and desperate for money, Paul started leaving mysterious notes for Kevin, explaining that Ace was not his child. Terrified Kevin would find out the truth, and that she would lose Ace, Kelly lied to Kevin and said Todd was Ace's real father. Kevin was enraged and filed for divorce. Kelly was determined to hold onto her son. Todd went to Kevin and told him neither Kelly nor Todd were Ace's parents, but that Paul had gotten Kelly another baby after she miscarried. A heartbroken Kevin confronted Paul, who admitted Todd was telling the truth. However, Paul kept up the lie that the baby was abandoned by a homeless woman, and not stolen. Kevin blamed Kelly for deceiving him, and was saddened she was unable to tell him their own baby had died. Kevin's sadness quickly turned into anger and he vowed to get custody of Ace. A bitter custody battle ensued, and Kelly began relying more on painkillers. Her aunt Dorian was terrified Kelly's mental stability was faltering, but Kelly surprised everyone when she remained composed through her testimony. All were stunned when the judge ended up rewarding Kevin full custody of Ace. Kelly was inconsolable, but close friend David agreed to sell his shares of "Craze" to Kevin so that Kelly would receive some visitation rights. When a vindictive Paul confessed to Kelly that Ace was actually stolen from his mother, Kelly was horrified. She decided to return Ace to his biological mother, but Paul was murdered before Kelly could find out her identity. Soon after, Ace was kidnapped, and Kelly suspected the biological mother may have been responsible. With the help of David and Duke, Kelly found out Babe Chandler was Ace's biological mother, and tracked Babe down in New Orleans. Once she confronted Babe, she realized Ace was where he belonged, and she bid her son an emotional goodbye. She promised Babe she would keep her whereabouts secret to protect Ace from Kevin and his volatile biological father, JR Chandler. The authorities tracked down Babe, and Ace was temporarily returned to his legal guardian Kevin. Kevin planned on fighting JR and Babe for custody of Ace. Kelly urged Kevin to let go of Ace and accept and mourn their own child's death. Kevin refused, especially when Kelly told him the baby belonged with Babe. Kelly swore to do what was right for Ace and make sure he ended up with his mother. At the custody hearing, Kelly stood up and lied that Babe did not kidnap Ace; rather, Kelly had given her full permission to take the boy. This nullified the kidnapping charges against Babe, giving her a greater shot at custody. Kelly managed to convince Kevin to drop his claim and advocate Babe be granted full custody. Kevin and Kelly were shocked when JR was awarded custody. Kevin and Kelly made headway in their fragile relationship after finally dealing with Kelly's miscarriage. Kelly brought Kevin to the site of their son's grave and both were able to forgive each other's past mistakes. Soon after, Kevin offered Kelly a fundraising job at Buchanan Enterprises, and the close proximity reignited old feelings. However, their trust remained on shaky ground, especially after Kevin presumed Kelly had tricked him into exposing to Blair that Todd was raped by Margaret Cochran. The misunderstanding was cleared up, and the pair continues to make a tentative reconciliation. Recently, Kelly has been spending time with Spencer Truman, a mysterious new doctor in town. Kevin's jealousy over their friendship has made him realize that he wants to win Kelly back for good.
