Marcie Walsh
Father: Charlie Walsh Siblings: Ron Walsh, Eric Walsh, Jerry Walsh Significant Romantic Relationships: Al Holden, Michael McBain Marcie Walsh first appeared in 2002 as the part time receptionist to Dr. Conklin, an Obstetrician at Llanview Hospital. When Jennifer Rappaport needed to change her conception date to indicate that Cristian Vega, not Al Holden, was the father of her unborn baby, Marcie was happy to use her position to help Jen. Insecure and without many friends, Marcie desperately wanted Jen's friendship and approval. Although the scheme backfired, Jen and Marcie slowly started to build a friendship. Marcie began tutoring Al, who was doing poorly in his classes. Marcie realized that Al was addicted to prescription drugs, and vowed to help him kick the habit. Locking herself and Al in Al's dorm room, Marcie forced Al to stop taking pills and promised to help him through the difficult time of withdrawl. Al was able to kick his habit, and the two began to fall in love. Al transformed the way Marcie viewed herself. Through Al, she realized she was as beautiful and capable as anyone else. Al also supported Marcie when she was harassed for advocating peace in the Middle East conflict. Some particularly angry students knocked Marcie out and threw her in a dumpster. Al rescued her, but Marcie unknowingly picked up a rare disease from the germs and bacteria in the garbage. Al, her lover, caught the disease and was hospitalized. Despite a valiant struggle, Al died, leaving Marcie heartbroken. During her grief, Marcie met Michael McBain, whom she believed to be bitter and arrogant. She would also routinely receive visits from Al's soul, who desperately wanted to reunite with her. Unbeknownst to Marcie, Al's spirit took root in Michael's body, determined to win her back. At first Marcie was surprised and unnerved by the sincerity and kindness that normally angry Michael was displaying towards her, but slowly she was won over. On Valentine's Day, Marcie realized that Al's spirit had inhabited Michael's body. He told Marcie that his soul would always remain in Michael's, and encouraged Marcie to find love with Michael. Al's spirit departed this world, leaving Marcie with no recollection of her heavenly encounter with Al. Michael and Marcie continued to fall deeper in love, while both struggled with their busy schedules. Michael motivated Marcie, a mystery buff and aspiring author, to write her own novel. She started writing The Killing Club, a book based on a club Marcie created with other outcasts in high school, where students came up with various murders for other students they disliked. When Michael started noticing strange behavior by Chief of Staff Dr. Long, Michael began investigating him. After breaking his leg to avoid being caught snooping in Long's office, Michael was bedridden. He enlisted Marcie's help and she began to look into Dr. Long's shady activities. She discovered that he was selling organs on the black market. She told Michael and the two vowed to stop him. Dr. Long confronted Marcie, and locked her in an abandoned freezer used for storing blood. Marcie was able to escape and caught up with Dr. Long and Michael fighting on the hospital roof. Long almost pushed Marcie off the roof top, but Michael rescued her and Long was arrested. Marcie finished the first draft of her book and gave Michael a copy. Marcie's insecurities came to the surface with Michael's constructive criticism, but he was able to convince her that she should try to have the book published. Unfortunately, Marcie had spent so much time concentrating on her novel, that she'd neglected her studies at LU. She was terrified she'd lose her scholarship, but was given a second chance when President Davidson selected her and several other Llanview students to rebuild the community center. Marcie and seven other students moved into Viki's cottage together, (nicknamed the Love House), and embarked on their summer community service. Living with such a diverse group of people was no easy task. Tensions in the house were made worse when fellow classmate Mark admitted he was gay. Marcie defended him to other Love House residents and the conflict gradually subsided. The experience hit close to home as Marcie began dealing with a rift in her own family. When her gay brother Eric announced he planned to marry his longtime partner, Marcie's father and brother Ron voiced their disapproval. Her father even threatened to disown her if she supported Eric. Marcie was disappointed when even Michael had a hard time accepting the notion of gay marriage. Despite their difference of opinion, Michael pledged his love for Marcie and vowed to support her. With the help of Michael, Marcie hired a literary agent named Hayes Barber, and became immersed in preparing for the publication of her book. With Michael's busy schedule as a doctor and Marcie's increased involvement in her novel the couple had little time for each other. Marcie was hurt when Michael put aside their engagement plans on hold, so that Marcie would have time to focus on her career. The two continued to drift apart, and agreed it was best to end their relationship. Meanwhile, Hayes pressured Marcie to lose weight and change her image in order to sell her book. Michael found out Hayes was encouraging Marcie to consider liposuction and made his disapproval known, his feelings for her still powerful. Michael and Marcie slowly started to reconnect, but Marcie walked in on Michael kissing a co-worker (unknown to Marcie, the woman initiated the kiss and Michael pulled away). Upset, Marcie ran into the street where she was hit by a car. Michael saved her life, but it appeared that Marcie wouldn't recover in time for the publishing party for The Killing Club. Thanks to encouragement by Michael, Marcie left the hospital and went to the event. Marcie fired Hayes for his treatment of her. Reconnected, the two kissed. Despite this, the two realized that there were still many unresolved issues between them, and they held off on getting back together. When two of Marcie's close friends from her Love House days were killed, Marcie realized their deaths were strikingly similar to two of the murders she'd written in her book. She took her suspicions to Detective John McBain, and he concluded they had a copy cat killer on their hands. Marcie was horrified, and felt wholly responsible for the death of her close friends. Michael was there to support Marcie, and assure her that she was not in any way to blame. Hayes, who was previously rehired by Marcie, was thrilled by the turn of events and felt the publicity would help sell books. Marcie's emotional state took a turn for the worse when her best friend Jen turned up dead. Initially, Marcie assumed she died at the hands of The Killing Club killer, but the police declared the death a suicide. Soon it came out that Jen was actually murdered by DA Daniel Colson, who was covering up his guilt in another murder. Marcie continues to mourn the death of her best friend and remains determined to help the police track down The Killing Club murderer.
