Never before in Konami Cup history has a team started like this. "There is a real buzz in the camp. The boys believe that they can win this. I have always failed in the tournament just as the rest of my team. But this time I think we must be favourites." The greek who in previous cups have been the biggest disapointments of the main Peter Snell World Series teams. They have come in 4th, 4rd, 3rd and 4th in four disapointing campaigns while Switzerland (3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st) and Jamaica (1st, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd) have had a much better run. In this campaign Greece are showing that they can put away weaker teams. In the past they have suffered some disaster loses in games they should have won. Quite notably two 1-0 loses to Cameroon and Norway back in Konami Cup II that ended any hope. Dispite all this optimisum Switzerland are still favourites. They are equal with Greece having also won their first three games. Also they have scored 7 goals to match the Greek. Seperating the sides is only two goals let in by the Swiss in their 3-2 win over Argentina. |
