Claudi Karvan... Another Fly-by Night?
Investigative reporter Seamus Sillypoppins Majorus writes:
I hear from weekly fly-paper The Daily Buzz that television star Claudia Karvan is very interested in our recipe for Fly-pie.
We are, of course, very happy for Ms. Karvan’s interest. But will she prove to be just another fly-by-night?
Consider these facts: Hollywood actor Dustin Hoffman confesses that he eats Fly-stew every night, and that he thinks it is ‘a safe, healthy, natural food, which cleanses us spiritually as well as naturally’.
Gwyneth Paltrow professes to like Flies ‘so much’ that she keeps a packet of dried flies with her on the set.
But are these actors simply saying that they like flies to get the attention? One source in Hollywood tells us that ‘just between you and me, I think they are having us on. They don’t like flies at all – they haven’t even eaten them, not once. They’re just attracted by the meal because of the popularity.’
And it’s not only Hollywood actors. Journalists and politicians are getting into the act. One American radio-announcer recently accused the French of being ‘Fleas-Eating Surrender Flunkeys’, causing an international incident. This was, certainly, a harsh thing to say: after all, isn’t the French who have given us one of the most delicious fly-dishes of the repertoire – French Flies? And this reporter knows for a fact that French President Jacques Chirac is very fond of Flies, no matter how you have them.
But I don’t see why we should be worrying so much about these ‘fly-by-nights’. After all, Flies are a healthy, delicious, nutritious, and environmentally friendly food – and if a Hollywood actress decides to help make it popular, so be it!
