Out of a Song Liner Notes "I've been waiting for an album by Sue Richardson and here it is, Out of a Song. I met Sue on a one-day workshop a couple of years ago. She got up to sing... immediately one could hear that this was not only a great singer, but a great musician too! I wasn't surprised to find out later that she also plays a pretty mean trumpet. Sue has been blessed with a naturally warm, intimate and unaffected singing voice. She has that rare gift of coaxing you in to her world of music and song. Out of a Song is a collection of some well-chosen jazz standards - check out Gershwins' A Foggy Day - which starts off as a duet with guitar and voice, weaving in and around each other in perfect harmony. Then there's the self-penned Out of a Song, a bluesy ballad and one of my favourites. Each song tells a story and takes you on a musical journey. The rhythm section is marvellously supportive and sympathetic. This is an inspired musical collaboration that brings joy and a freshness with each repeated listening." Anita Wardell March 2004 |
