The Fix

Smoldering in the noon day sun
Rushing on another “run”
Nothing is ever what it’s suppose to be
everyday I loose another part of me

Milky white
is the sky
like the liquid
that flows
to keep me alive

I stick a needle
into my vein
and just like magic
everything begins to change

Numb and still
I nod to the sounds
of a Nightingale
or perhaps
it’s the dark Raven’s shrill

Makes no difference
either way
I’m comfortable here

Oily rags cover me
Someday,
hopefully someone will come along
and ignite me

Inside,
I feel like
a god

Outside,
I know
I’ll never belong

Nothing is left
but my disease
The fix
has fixed
the rest of me
