Dark Forest

I feel like a small child
wandering in an overgrown forest
There is danger everywhere
and although there are many trails
All of them just lead into a deeper
darker region of woodland

Occasionally, I will marvel
over the wind or rain
Spending days contemplating
its purpose

I see many others on my journey
but like me, they too are lost

If there was a way
out
I’m not sure
I would want to go

The dark forest is the only home
I’ve known
and what is beyond
could be even more horrifying
