Thomas thoughts on Wicca

Humanity has come a long way over the centuries but at times we always seem to find our heritage and retrace our steps. I had been Methodist for all my life prior. When I was younger, I never knew of Wiccans or Pagans really existed. It wasn't common in North Dakota to really show up on the map, or at least in our community.

My first taste of witchood was after getting online to the internet. After seeing an episode of Unsolved Mysteries where they told about a Witch (Ironically in Salem) who helped solve a murder mystery. I found it so fascinating on her means of practice. One could see some science in it, but then there was something else, like an unseen force behind the scenes. So I decided to research some more.

I found some sites about Wiccans and Pagans and eventually found out some of my friends I role play stories with are following that path. It grew more! The best thing unlike other beliefs is that there are no restrictions! The only thing they go by is "an ye harm none, do what thou wilt." In other words, so long as you don't hurt someone, you won't get hurt as bad in return. To me it felt more sense then the "You stole a candy bar when you were 5, you go to hell sort of thing.

Now forgive me as I get on the soapbox for a bit, this is where I get upset. Not everyone was of course happy I was looking into this. I had a couple friends online that were deep Christians that said I was risking everything looking into this, saying "They worship the devil and all evil." Of course I thought this logically. I mean, if Wiccans and Pagans were evil, don't you think the FBI would have busted in on their operations years ago? They did with a certain someone in Texas and wasn't he...Christian?

I held the interest of Witchood back due to that, and I know I shouldn't have since this is the USA, the land of believing in anything you want. (And in North Dakota, you have a problem with my belief leads to me embarrassing you. ;) At any rate my life lead on and when I feel in love with Courtney, I happened to notice she had some books on Wicca. That's when I found out she had went down that road too, only to have his dork of an ex-husband Adam tell him she couldn't be a Witch either.

And thus we furthered back into the belief of Wicca and eventually coming out of the broom closet, doing some rituals by ourselves. It was then we had to find others out there, there just had to be! Well low and behold we found some! Starting up a new Fargo Wicca meet up we met with some fellow witches for the first time. Brandi and Miha who are a just married couple took us under wing and have taught us a great deal and we are still learning!

We've meet their friends Doug, Crystal, Mickey and Erin and got to experience our first group ritual of Ostara. This is a celebration of the coming of spring. I could really feel it there, our spirits being in tune with the elements, feeling a piece of myself that had been lost now been found.

And after the hand fasting that made me husband to Courtney, I got to speak with Tess, the High Priestess of Natures Sanctuary for a bit and it was enlightening to know that all these years, to keep an open mind to help others in need is something I'm not alone on.

What I have learned a great deal about becoming a witch is that, you have to have an open mind, to feel that a Goddess and God is there to bless you whenever you are in need of them for any situation, it feels quite enlightening than anything I had experienced before.

Below are some links to some Wicca sites and information to prove useful in case you are curious too.

And as they say, "Marry Part and Blessed Be!"
