Navroz

One months before the New Year day (on 21st of march) people prepare themselves for New Year they plant wheats in a plate for the New Year which we call it SAMANI , we also call the New Year, Navroz.

Navroz has special customs one week before Navroz all people clean there house at all and the night of last Wednesday of the year call Choar-Shama-Kola.

In Choar Shama Kola they make a fire and all the family jump over the fire and read this poem; You fire, all your goodness come to me and all my badness come to you. In New Year Night, they make a fire again which it comes from Zartoshti Religion. they believe the fire cleans every evils.

In the New Year Day they make a table with seven things which begins with 'S' on it. These seven things are: Greenary of wheats, garlic, vinegar, apple, coin, juice of germinating wheat mixed flour and seventh is sumac (porphyry).

Navroz is 15 days and during Navroz Students are in holiday. Kurdish believe that the 13th of Navroz is bad luck day, so every one goes to picnic because they don't want stay at home in this day and each person makes throw 13 stones to put away the badness of this day.

Another costume is in the first night of winter, which is the longest night of the year and we call it Shav Chela. In this night the family go to visit the grand parents and grandfather tells stories about our history. Our culture came to us because these stories because the Kurds has not a lot of written books and it came from father to son.

Kurdish Wedding Costume is a lovely costume but I will tell you a bout it in the future.
