About Me

Name: Sarah

Nicknames: Dear Prudence, Sa, Scary, Sarah-with-an-h, the *other* Sara(h), Mokey Fraggle, swandive, etc.

Birthdate: April 27, 1981

Location: Long Island, New York (currently Alfred, NY, at school)

Hobbies/Interests: writing anything! stories, poems, songs, etc.; playing guitar; digging out useful/useless information on the Internet, working on my homepage; knitting (just smile and nod...); photography; snowboarding, skiing, and ice skating when the opportunity presents itself; swing dancing, which I'm finally getting the hang of; and various other things.

What I want to be when I grow up: A writer. Don't ask me how, or what, or why. Unless you know someone who will hire me to sit in a room and read & write poetry all day ;).

Favorite Dessert: hot apple crisp with caramel and vanilla ice cream :) though the Jet's cinnamon toast is a close runner-up... and any kind of chocolate mousse creation... this could go on forever ;)

Favorite Music: Let's see... Sarah McLachlan, the Beatles, Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, almost any swing music (especially Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Royal Crown Revue), Dave Matthews Band, Aerosmith, um... that really doesn't even begin to do it justice, but my fingers would fall off before I could list them all.

Favorite word: lucid. No huge symbolism there, I just arbitrarily like the word. :)

What's hanging on my dorm walls: posters of Sarah McLachlan and Ani DiFranco, photos, drawings, random newspaper clippings, the usual.

When I'd go if I could travel through time: Probably ancient Greece. I know it sounds bizarre, and I used to have a justification for it, but I don't remember that now... :-P

Favorite book(s): Written On the Body, or *anything* by Jeanette Winterson; The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis; A Civil Action, by Jonathan Harr; A Natural History of the Senses, by Diane Ackerman; the Redwall series, by Brian Jacques; The Stranger, by Albert Camus; Bird by Bird, by Anne Lamott; The Arm of the Starfish, by Madeleine L'Engle; and too many more to list.

Favorite movies: Magnolia, Being John Malkovich, American Beauty, Election, Twelfth Night, Forrest Gump, X-Files: Fight the Future, Shakespeare in Love, The Birdcage, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Hard Day's Night, Back to the Future, West Side Story, Apollo 13.

Favorite poets: Sylvia Plath, T.S. Eliot, Shakespeare, Walt Whitman, William Butler Yeats, e.e. cummings, A. E. Housman, Adrienne Rich, Marge Piercy, again too many more to list.
