"Koyaanisqatsi --
The clouds wash the sky like a slow ocean...
Koyaanisqatsi --
I'm lost in the isolation of the population..."

from "Koyaanisqatsi"
ko-yaa-nis-qatsi n. 1. crazy life. 2. life in turmoil. 3. life out of
balance. 4. life disintegrating. 5. a state of life that calls for
another way of living.
Koyaanisqatsi rates among the best movies I have ever seen. I first saw this movie in 1995 while attending the Arkansas Governor's school. I was so blown away by the host of ideas that the movie spawned. I have since watched and rewatched Koyaanisqatsi, and have been equally blown away each time. What is it about the movie that elicites such emotion?
Koyaanisqatsi is a "film that, without dialogue or narrative structure, produces a unique and intense look at the superstructure of modern life (from the soundtrack liner notes)."

The movie is a must see, and most larger video stores will have it. We could learn a lot from this movie, and from the Hopi prophecies in the movie: "If we did precious things from the land, we will invite disaster." "Near the Day of Purification, there will be cobwebs spun back and forth in the sky." "A container of ahses might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans."

Go back home.
