The Decamaron
Giovanni Boccaccio, Guido Waldman (Translator)
Oxford University Press: 1993
A Synopsis
An entertaining series of 100 stories told in a country villa outside the city of Florence by ten young noble men and women seeking to escape the plague. This work provides a vivid portrait of people from all stations in life during the Middle Ages.  A precursor to Chaucer's Cantebury Tales, and very similar in structure, The Decamaron is at times amusing, witty, and even outright twisted.

My Review
I have just started this book.  As it is nearly 1000 pages, it may be a while before I can add much more to it.  This is one of those works that I have long had on my "To Read" list, but never managed to sit down and get going.  I will update this page as I plow through it. Also, check out the on-line version of this work translated by John Florio (1620).
