I began using a Sony Mavica FD-71 digital camera in May, 1999, and haven't been able to put it down. It's too much fun, too handy, and has become a part of my daily routine.
Each time I pressed the trigger of a 35mm camera, I felt like I was spending money, so I limited my shooting.  This causes a lot of missed opportunities.
With the Mavica, shooting ten views of something (or one hundred,  for that matter) costs you only time, allowing you to be more creative, and to capture "that perfect shot".
On these pages, you'll find some of my favorite shots, along with some description. I hope that these can serve as examples to others, and that I can pass along any tips I come across. If you like the pictures, let me know; there's a link at the bottom of the page. If you don't like them, and want to tell me about it, I'll listen to that too.

A Post Script: It's now 2002, and my Mavica has been handed down. I learned photography (composition, color, drama, ...) using the Mavica over a two year period. I shot over 12,000 pictures with it.

But what I was missing was resolution. I moved on to film, using the knowledge I gained from the Mavica. I shot with A Nikon N60, then an N80, and continued building my skills.

But I missed the immediate feedback I had with the digital camera. So I've come back to digital, at least partially, through a Nikon Coolpix 995. Much better resolution, full photographic control, and fun to use.
